Best 4k player bar none.
I purchased this player specifically to play region A blu-ray discs in the UK and as a compliment to my UK machine. Solid built, very very quiet, quality of playback is simply astonishing. blu-rays and DVD's shine on this machine. it did confirm one thing that I'd alway suspected. Unlike my old multi region machines playback on region A was instant. No having to wait a few minutes. I encountered no problems on playback and glad I bite. Yes people will say the Oppo is better but I honestly couldn't tell the difference and I'm watching on a 55 inch OLED. Seriously recommended if you are after top notch picture quality.

High quality performance and feel
A fantastic looking product. Great features including SACD/DVDA playback as well as 4K BR. It features a plethora of on screen information. Is it worth 3x the price of "normal" 4k player? I'd say no, but I also will say its built like a tank and looks amazing in the rack.

It is not an Oppo
This is a solidly constructed unit . I purchased two to replace Oppo units which are no longer available in the U.S. ( I mourn ) . As players , the Pioneer units are Ok . Does fine with SACDs . As a media renderer , however , the Pioneer lacks the effortlessness of the Oppo products , be prepared for much aggravation if you intend to use the Pioneer for network playback . For some inexplicable reason both units refuse to "see" half of the six QNAP servers on my network . I suppose I will figure it out at some point .

Outstanding Blu Ray player, not so much CD player.
Man I wanted to love this device. I really, really did. It's a gorgeous piece of equipment which looks great on a rack and plays Blu Rays like a boss. The Blu ray aspect of this device is absolutely killer. The picture and audio quality was outstanding. A clear improvement over the Samsung K-8500 model. Not a night and day difference, but easily seen and heard.I listen to CD's more than I watch movies which is why I ended up returning the player. When compared to my Onkyo C-7070 the LX500 was ousted. The LX500 made music harsh and listener fatigue set in very quickly. Even with the LX500 filters changed to Short and Soft the musical presentation was displeasing to my ears. Not because the presentation was different, but because it was unpleasant, rough on the edges and overall too harsh on my ears. The inability to select tracks further into the album was irritating as well being such a basic function that even a $20 player can accomplish. The Onkyo C-7070 musical presentation by comparison is liquid smooth making you want to quit your job and listen to music 24 hours a day. Excellent detail but not clinical, no harshness of any kind. Track selection of course being capable on the C-7070.My only other "complaint" about the LX500 is the tray. For a thousand dollars you get a plastic tray? Are you kidding me? I was expecting a tray like the C-7070 at that price point. The tray wasn't far off from the Samsung's tray. A let down for sure.Overall a fantastic unit, unfortunately not a keeper for me. I do recommend checking it out.

Leave those cheap $100-$200 at target and walmart alone lol
I'm actually getting back into physical media after building a digital collection of nearly 200 movies. The best sound and picture quality is still with discs. Having the pioneer elite + some good speakers is an award-winning combo. There really is a wow factor depending on the 4k movie you watch. It is truly a joy watching content on this thing. When you have good gear connected to the pioneer your setup will rival and surpass what you see in showrooms at places like best buy etc. Once you go with a high-end player you won't go back!

Endgame 4k player!!!!
This 4k player is the ultimate player. It's build quality is excellent, the loading is smooth, the menus and ui is clean and simple and just makes me want to explode with joy. Imagine a menu that's got no unnecessary redundant apps. It's just setup settings and the disc you enter. Oh and the remote is a full size remote with some weight to it and the buttons actually say useful stuff. It even has a dimmer button and light button to see your remote at night.

When there's no Oppo...you have this!
Since Oppo stopped making HD Blu-Ray players, a lot of us tech-heads, looking for newer players, had to set our sights elsewhere. Yeah, you could buy a used Oppo, or pay double for a new one, but the company support is gone. This Pioneer hits the Spot! I wanted a Universal 4K player for my new LG OLED TV, but I use it more for Music playback. I have a huge selection of all the various Music formats, and this player spins then all! SACD 2-ch & Multi-ch. DVD-Audio, DTS music discs & Blu-ray Audio! This player even has two HDMI outputs, so you can keep the HD Audio & HD Video separated which is a great feature! As I said, it's not an Oppo, but it fits & hits the spot!
