The Loved Dog

This should be required reading before you get a dog!!!
This book completely changed how I interact with my dogs. I want everyone in the world to read this book and treat their dogs better. My mom gave me this book to read and I read it outloud to my husband on a long roadtrip. He was completely changed by it as well. I think we both just kind of had an epiphany. I'll admit this might not be the best "training manual" to tell you exactly what to do to train your dog, but that is because it is a book that tries to explain how to treat your dog and why. The process can't be a bulleted list. Its not a list because its real life and requires real dedication and daily love. After reading this book, I realize that I don't have to raise my voice or use physical punishment like I've been told by "trainers." I have an English bulldog and I had an incredibly hard time training him despite the help of multiple "trainers." At the age of 4 and 5 he was still having accidents in the house despite using the methods they recommended. The truth is that yelling, screaming, hitting, shoving his nose in excrement and acting like a psycho is the wrong way to communicate. All the while he wasn't getting enough interaction, mental stimulation, and exercise (bulldogs are not actually lazy and mine happens to be really smart). Now I understand why this never felt like a natural way to interact with him and I can see now that it was hurting my relationship with him. I don't have to prove that I'm the alpha because he already wanted me to be the alpha - instead I was some crazy lady he was forced to live with. I am so glad that I was given this book before I adopted our 2 french bulldogs. I really feel like we have an understanding and a deeper relationship - one that my English bulldog (now 8 & 1/2) has also benefitted from. I can see a world of difference in him - one that comes from being free to express my love and affection for him without worrying about what the trainers told me to do. I focus more on his happiness and make sure his needs are being fulfilled. I bought 10 more books and sent them to my mom for her to give to others who would read this book and change their relationship with their wonderful dogs for the better. I truly believe that dogs are God's most perfect image of angels - that they are sent here for us to love and protect - that he entrusts their souls to us. If we can be even a little bit as good as our dogs are, then we will be closer to heaven. My dogs fill a void in my life that humans could never, and I owe the ability to have a loving relationship - that doesn't involve brutal training methods - to Tamar Gellar and this wonderful book. I promise you that these methods work - much like teaching a child in an encouraging environment. I often visualize my dogs as a child that doesn't speak English - this allows me to be patient with them - and completely amazed when they display their brilliance. It is real love and, truthfully, so much fun to explore the world with them in this way. Thank you again Tamar for writing this book and changing the world with your message.

Best Dog Training Method
I already own this book but it's packed and I want to prepare for another dog, so I purchased it again. I used this method to train my Bichon Poodle, Max, at 6 months. It worked like a charm and is all about positive, loving training. Max went to the Rainbow Bridge on 2/8/21 at 14 years of age. I highly recommend this book and training methodology. The author is from Israel and while serving in the IDF she was stationed in the desert where she observed a pack of wolves. She learned much from their behavior and it provided the basis of her training methods. She moved to Los Angeles, opened the first doggie day care and began training dogs. She wound up training dogs for many famous people, as well. She's awesome!

Stop Searching.... Buy This Book!!!
The concepts conveyed in The Loved Dog are essential for all dog owners. And the book is an absolute joy to read. Tamar has become the voice for the voiceless (our beloved dogs). She goes way beyond the basics of teaching your dog how to sit and dives into the very nature of what it's like to be our four-legged furry "kids". Her loving, non-violent and powerful methods are a paradigm shift for the dog training industry. They speak right to my heart for how a relationship with our dogs should have always been - based in love and not fear or violence. By reading this book and applying Tamar's Loved Dog method you will experience a deep and lasting bond with your dog that will stand the test of time. As Tamar puts it, "...you and your dog will smile at each other every single day and ask yourselves, 'How did I get so lucky?'" Do yourself, and your dog, a favor and get a copy of this book today. You will love it. And your dog will love YOU for it!

For Dog Lovers Only! <3
From the first time I read 'The Loved Dog' in 2007 I knew that Tamar Geller was a woman after my own heart. Her attitude toward dogs and her training methods so closely match how I feel and what I've always done with my dogs. After getting a new puppy recently (after not having a puppy in almost 15 years!) I knew I needed a refresher so ordered '30 Days to a Well Mannered Dog' also and it has been such a blessing. My little girl is only 4 months old, but with Tamar's guidance she is already learning to become an extremely well mannered girl! While working at the public Library I recommended for many years that anyone getting a new doggie addition to their family should get a copy of 'The Loved Dog' but I will now add to that advice and recommend '30 Days to a Well Mannered Dog!' I think both of these books should be required reading for anyone getting a dog...and anyone that loves dogs! Thanks, Tamar!

Must have book for training a new puppy
The author truly cares about dogs and teaches you how to lovingly train your dog to want to obey you. I have used this already on one pup and since we got a 2nd puppy I wanted to read it again and refresh myself on it. It teaches why dogs behave the way they do so you'll understand how to communicate with them lovingly, and how to get them to understand what you want them to do.
