Fantany 85w USB-IF Certified charger [TID 1020059] has some minor bugs.
This is Nathan K., I do independent verification and testing of USB-C devices and peripherals. The "USB-IF Certified" Fantany 85w charger and cord (TID 1020059 PN ARTODM85-BLK-03) are generally safe and OK to use. It has 5/9/12/15/20v levels are proper "Power Rules Compliant" 85w Power Delivery Profile (PDP). The cord is a USB2.0 5a cord per the eMarker. But the charger has rather annoying bugs that the USB-IF failed to catch during their comprehensive tests.I still somewhat approve of this charger, it will work for MOST users without issue. It will work better than the Apple 87w for "General purpose" charging because of the +15v and +12v levels. But the errors below are quite annoying and result in unintended disruption in certain circumstances. (i.e. Google or Apple wouldn't have signed off on it.)I'm more less annoyed at Fantany, more annoyed the USB-IF for not catching these bugs during their certification process. They are the "be-all-end-all" of checking USB things. In order of decreasing relevance (not severity):1.) The charger crashes on voltage-to-voltage transitions. This means if your device changes voltage levels during use, the charger will crash and disconnect. Chromebooks do this under certain circumstances. Certain dock peripherals do this under certain circumstances. Worst case, your thumbdrive will be disconnected from your multiport hub while you're using it -- or your device might shut off unexpectedly (if it has no battery).2.) The BMC Eye Diagram is out of spec. This means the "zeroes" and "ones" may be garbled at the end of a long cable. Minor issue for most users. Most everything else about this charger is OK. It does better than 80% of chargers out there just by virtue of being UL and USB-IF tested. But if I'm spending $60 on a charger that is "USB-IF Certified", I expect the board to light up full green.... not have hiccups like this.Pros:* Comes with velvet bag, cable tie, good cable* Proper 85w support with 5/9/12/15/20v levels* Works better than Apple 87w for multi-device charging* Will work perfectly fine for most peopleCons:* Glitches with charger circuitry itself* Will give headaches to people using delicate/complex USB-C products

Generally good, but intermittent issue with Macbook Pro
NOTE: I've changed this review from its original version based on additional experience using these chargers.I bought 3 of these and I use them to charge an HP Chromebook x2, a couple different Android phones, and a Macbook Pro. The chargers work great with the Chromebook and the phones, but I've had intermittent problems with the Macbook Pro. Occasionally (but certainly not all the time) when I plug in the Macbook Pro while it is either asleep or shutdown, it'll get stuck in some kind of cycle where the power repeatedly dis- and then re-connects every ~30 seconds or so. That means I hear the little "I've just been plugged in" chime sound and the computer wakes up every 30 seconds which is super annoying and is probably not great for the battery either. Some additional testing has revealed that this has more to do with the Macbook Pro than the charger. I tried buying another brand's USB IF certified 85w USB C charger and it had the exact same issue. I even reproduced it with a friend's Macbook Pro. Neither computer has this problem with the Apple-provided charger.Fantay support has been helpful as I've tried to figure this out. They found some forum posts where people reported that this issue started for them with 3rd party chargers after the macOS Mojave upgrade (which both the tested Macbooks have installed). The recommended solution was to reset the SMC but that didn't work for me.So morale of the story is these generally work well, but your mileage may vary with a Macbook Pro. Unfortunately that looks like something that Apple's going to have to fix.

What a steal!
Wow for $15 this is a steal! I was looking to get another USB-C charger for my 16" Macbook to have in another room so I don't have to always carry the charger around and found this. For the price I thought why not try it... and it works great. Seriously for not only the 85W charger but ALSO a 6ft 100W cable... this is such a steal. FYI - you can't just use any USB C cable, you need to make sure it can handle the wattage to actually get the max power from the charger. Most other chargers I was looking at were twice the price for only the charger! Sure its less wattage than the OEM Apple charger but works just fine. Get it!

Good quality, not perfect.
This charger makes (very faint) hissing sounds plugged in to a macbook pro. This is a pretty common issue with PC supplies, and even my stock Microsoft brand charger for my Surface Pro does it. But the official Apple 87W charger doesn't, and this one does, so that's points against.I do appreciate that this charger supports 12V and 15V output for devices that require that, which the Apple charger doesn't. Could be a sticking point in some edge cases for people trying to use the Apple charger, but won't be with this one. Minor point in favor of this unit.If for some reason you were hoping to use this with a DockCase adapter, it won't fit - just a bit too wide and USB-C port in slightly the wrong spot.Update: I knocked another star off after experiencing what another reviewer did - if the power draw is too low, the supply resets, causing the macbook pro I'm using to keep making the "plugged in" noise over and over. Can't deal with that.
