I’ve been keeping my old 4 wheel pool cleaner functioning with new parts as needed but I knew the main gearing was getting worn. This year it wouldn’t move at all when we opened our pool and hooked it up. I pulled it and took the cover off so I could make sure there wasn’t a blockage. The main gearing was just just too sloppy so I started making a list of the parts needed so I could price out replacements. During the online search I found this replacement lower unit, score!! It not only was cheaper than the list of individual parts, it was already assembled and just needed a few parts from the old unit to be complete. You need to pull off the front and rear flappers plus the tires (check the tread and replace if too worn). The top shell slides on and the three screws fasten it.The instructions are good, the unit fits and best of all I had a brand new Pool Cleaner charging around our pool again sweeping up everything in sight!

If you already have a poolvergneugen/Hayward phoenix/etc & it's acting up to the point you're considering buying a new one, stop and get this instead. Unless you've somehow broken the top cover plastic where the hose connects, this product plus a new set of tires and 5-20 minutes work gives you a functionally as-new poolvergneugen for around a third the price of a whole new unit. This is everything but the top plastic cover, the plastic skirts on the bottom, and the tires. New tires and new skirts are both available for cheap if you need 'em, and this unit replaces everything that the skirts and tires attach to. I reused my skirts, no problems, but IMO remove the throat piece from both your old part and the new part before swapping skirts. The insructions don't mention that, just says "pull hard to remove middle skirt" but IME that's a lot easier when the throat piece is detached and detaching the throat piece is easy (press the tabs on either side of it and it'll slide out). I like the all-white-plastic wheels it includes (NOT tires, the rubber is NOT included), the original blue wheels bleach unevenly under our Arizona sun so this is an aesthetic improvement.This is a Hayward original part delivered in original packaging. Works perfectly.We own/maintain several of these units so as long as y'all offer this product at a good price, we'll be repeat customers. This total gear replacement perfectly fit my Hayward/Poolvergnuegen/Thepoolcleaner pool vacuum. My vacuum got to where it wouldn’t maneuver around the total pool like it used to when it was new. The problem lies in internal worn gears. I guess you can take it apart enough to trouble shoot and find out what parts need to be replaced. But for the price I chose to just get this part that replaces the total inner workings of the vacuum. The included instructions were clear and making the removal and replacement process relatively easy. If you are inclined enough to think you can do this repair, you probably possess the basic skills to complete this project. While making this vacuum overhaul, I also chose to replace the 4 rubber tires on the vacuum. After this repair our vacuum is now motoring around the whole and total pool like it used to when it was new.

I've had my Hayward Phoenix (similar to "The Pool Cleaner", "Poolvergnuegen" and "AquaNaut") for years and it finally stopped working. New, this robot is selling for $480, but this kit (which replaces almost every component) is only about $170.The only pieces you'll need to keep from your old, worn-out cleaner will be the tire treads, the top cover-plate, and the little plastic "fingers" that follow along the bottom of the pool. Those are also available separately.Easy to put together, just 3 screws, and you have a brand new pool cleaner!

Easy to put together with parts from old crawler. Will buy this again in future as needed. Good value and fit. Only issue was one wheel button that broke when putting it together. Local pool store had used replacement they gave me gratis. Good day

Guts came all out of alignment, struggled to get the lid back on. Pieces moved out of place and the instructions are completely useless for that. I think it is working again after a couple of hours fighting with it. It should be a 5 minute job and most of that should be the stupid tires. Overpriced for what it is, a bunch of cheap injection molded plastic gears.

This is way cheaper than buying a new pool cleaner for 470$. Just removed a few screws and used some of the old parts from the old cleaner and we are back in business. Took about 20 minutes.
