Great film, not perfect, but entertaining
There were a few moments were I felt like fast-forwarding, because the movie had become predictable and a bit boring. However, I hung in there, and the movie pretty much redeemed itself. Decent script, great acting, interesting from beginning to end.The main problem is that the plot's mysteries were pretty much all revealed 2/3's into the movie, and after that point, the audience is just waiting for all the little predictable details to be tied up. There were minutes of false drama with "dramatic music!!", that just seemed like filler, rather than suspense building.A few early storyboard changes in the way the plot developed, keeping a few surprises until the end, and it could have been a 5-star success.

Listen to the rain... (oh, there are NO reptiles in the movie)
I must say I was amazed -- dazzled by the technical, visual, auditory tour de force that is this largely unsung film in the De Palma canon. I'd avoided "Snake Eyes" for 20 years (didn't like the title, didn't like the cast, had hated the director's previous works in the 1990s), yet purely by chance, or impurely by Prime, I finally watched this movie one night in 2018 -- a full 2 decades after its theatrical release -- only to be reminded how viscerally powerful De Palma films can be. Visually, it's great, but the surprise here is in De Palma's mastery of sound effects. The story takes place during a hurricane, and the soundtrack swooshes with constant rain and heavy gales of wind lashing around as a tale of murder and double crosses unfolds. De Palma takes the conventions of Old Dark House movies and transplants them to the brightly lit, larger-than-life vulgarity of a Jersey shore boxing match. Sounds awful, right? Sounds like there's no way in a million years the conceit/gambit could possibly work? And yet, it does. Nicolas Cage, after years of lousy performances, did some of his most incisive character work since "Moonstruck." Yes, when the explanation scenes finally come, they are not quite believable. But who cares? Carla Gugino looks beautiful, and she's the rare -- extremely rare -- De Palma heroine who doesn't have to suffer (too much).

Classic Cage
Entertaining from start to finish.

Cage in the 90’s
This was one of his more underrated, but cooler roles from his heyday.Kind of a bad cop to an extent, but when it got real he showed what a good cop he actually was.Unfortunately had to for his past.Still a great Cage flick. Not saying this is a sad ending but they can’t always be happy endings. That would not be real life.❤️😀

Entertaining
Nicholas Cage and Gary Sinise as well as the entire cast give an outstanding performance in this adventure set in Atlantic City. I really liked the plot and directing in this movie. Lots of little nuances to grasp. The ending isn't supposed to be sad, yet somehow to me it was. Maybe it was because there wasn't an extreme change in Santoro, but that is actually just another thing that made this movie good. Change doesn't happen easily or quickly and sometimes not at all. And perhaps Santoro didn't change so much as he simply let out some of the qualities he possessed all along without realizing it. I highly recommend this thoroughly entertaining movie.

Worth the watch or rewatch for sure.
Come on it is an action packed 25 year old Jean Claude van Damme movie! Yes cheesie, plot is OK but lots of action. Great entertainment. If you have never seen it, well worth the watch for action packed mindless entertainment. If you haven't seen it in years and years also worth the rewatch.

Enjoyably but not De Palma’s best
I really liked this movie, especially in blu ray looked great. However there are definitely flaws with this film, ultimately not propelling it into De Palma’s upper tier.

Pretty good movie
Okay, I like Nicholas Cage...and this is just another one of his movies. He plays a good part, the story is interesting, and I like the way they showed the different point of views for some of the characters. There are some pretty good actors in this movie, and I think that everyone did a pretty good job. Enjoy the movie for what it is, and you will be fine.

Cages Best Film
It`s unconventional and maybe a bit old fashioned,as the film is carried by its strong acting performances, good directing, and great soundtrack. Cage is perfect as the corrupt cynical cop who finds he has a moral limit. Cage & Sinise (& Kevin Dunn!) have been in some good films but nowhere have they seemed more real or impressive-It`s an actors film not an FX film.I wish they`d make a few more like this.

Great action flick with Gary Sinise
Brian De Palma (Scarface, Carlito's Way) and his trademark long, unbroken camera shots are in their element here. The long shots add great tension to the scenes and a dark plot is uncovered concerning a new missile defence system for the United States.Gary Sinise brings his usual masterful performance, augmented by some late-90s Nicolas Cage action -- you can't top this for entertainment.

When I saw it first time I enjoyed it and this was the reason for buying it, but now it was not so exciting. You might like it if you watch it first time.
