Dependable quality brand and model
This is the fourth one of these that we own, needed for different houses and TV/theatre setups. The picture quality is excellent, and we have a 135" diagonal screen in the theatre room, and a Sony projector. We watch Netflix using its app in the theatre room and occasionally watch some discs (like Harry Potter). Resolution on that very large screen is excellent, we can see the pores and little hairs on actors' faces. And sound and motion reproduction in movies is excellent. The wifi reception is usually very good even on our below-grade basement and it seems when it has to reload during streaming that our internet service is to blame. It seems to be the most cost effective high quality Blu ray player that I could find even though it is not inexpensive. We have had this model for many years and it works fine without problems so we kept buying it when we needed more devices, even after carefully researching other brands and models.Software updates are automatic. Sometimes we have to reenter our internet password etc, not sure why. We are satisfied with this device all around. Sony is usually a dependable quality brand. I definitely recommend this model even if you have to stretch the wallet a tad.

Blue Ray DVD player
The player works very well. I gave 4 star because the player sometimes, starts getting noisey. I move it around to lessen the noise.Thank you!Susan C.

Versatile!
My entire audio/video system is Sony, and when the time came to replace the old blu-ray player, this was the first name I considered. First, this unit is a snap to install. Small in size, it fit nicely into an enclosed shelf. The remote is a bit smaller and better than the older model. Netflix button is a nice touch. No issues connecting to the wifi. It even picked up the Amazon prime membership on its own. Today, my son and I tested it with the new superhero epic and we were both impressed. I don't have a 4K television, but it is a 55" screen. Gorgeous picture! Perfect sound! The remote handled well, so it passed all of the basic tests. The internet connection is a nice plus. Typically, I watch Netflix on the computer, but the device made it much more attractive to fire up the television. The instruction pamphlet left a bit to be desired, but it covered what it needed to cover. I like the design of the player. The old one had its control buttons on the top of the unit. They broke a little too easily. This new one is pretty solid. I did use the supplied HDMI cable to connect to the amplifier. No issues there. Overall, a satisfactory bundle deal.

Bought one, came back to purchase second
Bought one to replace ancient DVD player at second home along with new smart tv all using a jet pack for internet service (no WiFi available as remote location. Easy to manage out of box (I typically hate this kind of setup, and while std computer literate, find setup painful). Grabbed jet pack signal and has never lost it since purchase 8 weeks ago). We’ve had nothing but frustration with 2 yo top of the line DVD running off WiFi at home, drops signal repeatedly and often - when I got home, I purchased this and have only had signal drop once (issue is poopy network signal) - definitely grabs and keeps signal.

Quality
This product should not even be sold as it is fraudulent to sell items that are so defective that doesnt even work.. After installation as per instructions the disc open button does not work, must be open with remote. Once a you place a disc in the disc player it works for a couple of seconds then it begins to skip as if someone is bouncing the player. I attempted to play different movies and the fault repeated itself continually. It is only a smart apparatus because it is connected to a smart tv without the HDMI cable it is worthless as it does Not go to wifi mode, it must be connected to a source that is wifi compatible to access this feature. In my opinion it is a shame how this product is advertised. Don,t fall for the ad says and as the quality it cannot get any worse than it does not work even as out of the box new.

really worth the upgrade
I have another BluRay DVD player that is several years old and a 4K tele - soo - I wanted to see if my DVD's could be upgraded without all the cost - this unit DOES make a difference in sharpness - a very good DVD player - as I have always gotten from Sony - expensive - and worth it. Highly recommended if you have a 4K television

Has hung my home wired network twice
The unit stops responding to the remote and hangs the wired network. Cycling power clears it. WIFI network not affected.Streams fine and is a little faster than the one we had previously (also a Sony).
