The instructions were badly spelt and bad grammar. The instructions were at best useless.

This does actually work - just make sure you calibrate as per to gem size and room temperature
This is actually really good - I have a mixture of items some I know as diamonds others I know are simulants or paste and a few I wasn't sure about this little tool gets it spot on!The important thing to do is make sure you calibrate it as per the instructions. One reviewer posted a video showing them moving the dial to force the gadget to bleep and then states it doesn't work! RTFM - as they say ...I highly recommend this product - reasonable price and if you google this particular model its used and relied upon a lot.

Needs a very good battery
This machine will not give a correct reading unless it has a fully charge battery, preferably a disposable lithium one. Even then it is not very sensitive and needs to warm up fully and at least four bars lit on the display before using.
