will a popsocket work on this?

I doubt that it would. The reason is that the case is made of a fabric material, so if the popsocket attaches by way of some adhesive or sticky surface, I doubt that it would stick properly to this particular case. It would not be able to get a good grip on the case.

Google recommends washing with warm water and dish soap or laundry detergent and let air dry. Honestly I haven't had much luck with cleaning it though.

Does it also fit the pixel 3 xl or is it just for the 3a?

I do not know with any certainty if the external dimensions of the Pixel 3 XL are the same as the 3a XL. I'm guessing that there is a minor difference since the 3 has a fancier metal exterior, and the 3a has a plastic exterior. So it probably does not fit, given the difference in the exterior finishes.
