Beautiful, exceedingly fine workmanship. Smokes as in a dream, smooth easy pulls to start, small sips to keep going. Nice and cool, no tongue bite at all. Very well balanced, feels like it belongs in your hand. The bowl is decent size, and the nice long stem keeps the smoke out of your face. Functional art, for sure.

After a 10 year hiatus, I've returned to enjoying a relaxing pipe after the cares of the day have been put to rest. This Savinelli is a good pipe for contemplative smoking. The stem length 'softens' the smoke, particularly later in a bowlful when other pipes can 'bite'. Load it with Dunhill Nightcap, sit back and enjoy.Savinelli's construction is first-class. The burl grain is nearly vertical, the finish is flawless, and stem joint appears to be a perfect match. It's a precise, snug fit that warrants extra care when separating the stem and bowl for cleaning.In short, this was fairly priced, high quality pipe - a definite keeper. I look forward to smoking it for a many years.If you consider trying a churchwarden, get some extra-extra long pipe cleaners (> 14") otherwise you'll have trouble getting the stem thoroughly cleaned.

Beautiful Italian pipe in Smooth Briar but not dandy looking. No filter. Acrylic stem. Does not burn too hot.I like Churchwardens because they are not in your face while reading, writing, typing or watching TV and they are the bestpipes to smoke prone or in bed (at your own risk). The other advantage is that being longer they are not "nose warmers" and sufficiently away from your face. Have got another 601 in Rusticated. All in all a very good pipe at a very good price. I recommend the style and the manufacturer.

An excellent, well-made pipe. The draw is easy and I had no problems keeping it lit. And let's not forget that it looks great too.

I've smoked pipes off and on for about 15 years and wanted to buy one good pipe.The good is that this is a comfortable pipe, made of briar and looks nice.I've had very little trouble with cheap $20 pipes you get at your local tobacco store gurgling.Wherever you look online people say either Savinelli or Peterson pipes but this pipe gurgle s like a water bong.I started reading online about why pipes gurgle and none of them apply to me but then I started finding things from pipe smokers that the airways need to be opened for it to smoke better and Savinelli's are known for this issue.So what I found out is that I bought a $100 - $130 pipe that I need to send off to be tweaked because I don't have the equipment to do it.So, I spent quite a bit of money just to spend more money having it fixed after buying it new. That's like buying a new expensive guitar you've always wanted off the internet just to take it to a shop and have them charge you for setting the action, adjusting the neck, and setting the tonation.I will say this is not the sellers fault but a manufacturing problem.

I just hit it to the trash can (trash can made of plastic) for the tobacco to fall, broke like a cheap pipe.The quality of the wood is fantastic; sadly, the part that connects the pipe is made of the cheapest plastic.
