Vallejo Painting miniatures from A to Z (vol.1) Book by Angel Giraldez 75003

If you have just one book to buy to up your game on miniature painting (especially in the SCI-FI range or where there is a lot of armor) then this is the SECOND book you should buy. The first is Angel's Painting Miniatures from A to Z VOLUME 2. Volume 2 will help you moh-bettah level up your game. Volume 2 has better rundown on mixing paints for the airbrush, materials, etc. Volume 1 (this book) is a GREAT book right out of the gate and is rich with technique and some close-ups of detail work to get that Infinity look. But it has some knowledge gaps that are just filled nicely in Volume 2. I very highly recommend both books as they are both really great, but if you are going to start with one, then pony-up for VOLUME 2 first! OR - buy them both together and be joyful that you did as you will not be disappointed. GAME ON!

I didn't catch it in the description, but this edition includes a small model of Joan of Arc. by Infinity. Very cool ! First, I've been a modeler since the 1970's. With that said, there is an amazing amount of information and techniques in this book to keep you busy and fired up to paint some figures. I have always had trouble with faces and some other minor aspects of figures, but this book covers them all. It also covers mechs, women, and monsters. No color is out of bounds. Green, blues, red, orange, all of them come to life.Note that on the back of the book, it says it is limited to 5000 copies. So if ever wanted a book on painting figures, you better get it now. You will never regret it. If this book doesn't kick your painting up a few notches, nothing will !

This book is worth the price to me due to the NMM tutorial alone. If you've ever been to college, you know books that have good information are pricey. I give it 4 stars due to the fact it doesn't come with the mini, and its not as in depth as the second book. Other than that it is a fantastic book and worth a look if you want to bring up your painting game.

Fantastic book! The techniques and step by step pictures in this book are guaranteed to make you a better mini / figure painter. Just seeing the details along the way are worth it. I normally prefer painting videos so I can see how it's done, but the author puts enough pictures and verbiage in here to make up for it. The pictures actually show a gradual build up, not the start before/after images of some books, One caveat here though, I did not get the mini with the book, so they may be out of them... That bummed me out, but it does not detract from the book at all!

It's a really good book to show you Giraldez's techniques and what he does to get such beautiful miniatures. The Joan of Arc that comes with is also a great bonus because the miniature itself is amazing. Infinity has great miniatures to begin with but this version of Joan stands at the top with a few others. I recommend getting this book if you want tips on how to paint with an airbrush.

this is not a book, there is nothing new that you cant find online for free even from Angel Giraldez himself, bought it expecting more theory but its just very basic tutorials with no in depth explanations.

It only has about 17 pages of material. I was really let down. Didn't come with the mini either.

(I did not receive the exclusive Mini with this book)Having said that, this book was fantastic!! I loved every page of it and it helped a lot with picking out, step by step, some of the ways in which A.G. applies light and color theory to miniature art. A "Must Have" for any aspiring mini painter!!

I don't know the answer to that, and it's entirely subjective.Don't go into this book looking for "basics", you're going to need a pretty solid painting background before even starting.However, it's a pretty handy reference to see these models painted step by step, to this level of skill.Now if you're the kind of person who likes physical copies of books want a hard copy book to keep on your shelf, then this is a pretty cool book to have. However... you can find step by step tutorials online, so if owning the book isn't that important to you? Well, make your choice.Now, is it worth $100? I'm gonna say... not... really? There's no denying Mr. Giraldez' talent, and I am one who enjoys holding a book in his hands, but I am going to say that it's overpriced.I'm happy with it. I like it. But I paid too much, and I know it.

An amazing indepth guide to figure painting. My only disappointment is the subject matter, insofar as that his subject matter was limited to the Corvus Belli Infinity figures. Beyond that, one can only learn and appreciate his skills.
