Best sharpener yet asnd very easy to use.
I have a heavy chef's knife for general kitchen duty including dicing meat plus a few smaller knives for peeling, dicing and cutting small jobs. I've bought several electric sharpening machines and a diamond faced sharpening steel over the past few years. They've done the job but none of them get a blade quite as sharp as I would really like. In the past few months I also bought a chinese style cleaver and a filleting knife, both of which were razor sharp when purchased but I don't trust any of my electric sharpeners to bring the blades back as new.I decided a whetstone would be the best bet. so having read the various reviews here and on YouTube, got the impression they mostly work the same and that a 1000/6000 grit is the best mix of coarseness. The main decider for me would the the price and mostly positive reviews from a lot of verified buyers. This product is sold at an attractive price and has a fairly high feedback score but one thing that almost deterred me is there are a number of buyers reviews where the people complained about the length of time it takes to sharpen a blade. I took the chance and ordered anyway. I soaked the stone as instructed, fitted the plastic guide before use just to see what angle it sets but it's just the logical one so I discarded it and don't see any future use for it. I must say I'm baffled as to why it's taking some people so long. I didn't actually time it but my stainless steel cleaver was razor sharp after at most a few minutes just using the 1000 grit side. I alternated sides every 20 seconds or so, and moved the blade across the stone in a circular motion at the correct angle with just a small amount of downward pressure. It couldn't be easier to master.I also did my heavy chef's knife and that too came out perfectly in a very short time, so as far as I'm concerned the stone is an extremely easy and efficient method of sharpening kitchen tools. I have no hesitation in recommending this product.

Flattening stone useless
Very good stone my knives are razor sharp now but it does ware down fast and the flattening stone it comes with doesn't do anything but good value for money good performance and sturdy in the base but keep the base dry otherwise it goes mouldy

Excellent, stable and works well.
The instructions are excellent. The guide works well, helping you to develop the muscle memory needed to sharpen without out it as your confidence grows. It sharpened our knackered kitchen knifes easily, they work so well now. The seller even contacted up to make sure it arrived ok.

Love it.
Now wish I'd bought a whetstone years ago. Great to have sharp knives, scissors & even secateurs back again. Easy to use. Comes with clear helpful instructions, but there's plenty of online advice too.1,000 grit side advised for beginners & very sufficient to sharpen with. The two sides are different colours & clearly marked. It comes with a handy slide on angle guide which I found helpful to use on larger knives. The block & rubber strip keeps it all still as you work. Good price and delivery was quick.

Easy to use
Very nice stone and easy to use. Love the step by step instructions.Unfortunately the bamboo stand got mouldy, how? I rinsed it after use and left it to dry naturally before packing it away. When I took it out couple of weeks later - it was covered in mould, see the picture. So now I don't have a fancy stand because how do you get rid of the mould without bleach....? 😒

With a little practice your knives will be really sharp
This is a well made, well presented sharpening stone with a useful bamboo stand and a rubber insert to hold the stone. The little blade guide is very useful to get you started and hold the knife blades at the right angle. There are lots of instruction videos on the web on how to use this type of sharpening block. Worth watching before you start.I found the whole business of sharpening knives quite calming and therapeutic. Kitchen knives were brought back to a really sharp edge with a little patience. Once sharp its easy to keep them that way.For smaller knives which still retain some edge I prefer to use a leather strop.Good set of stones and definitely worth the money.Recommended.
