Happy healthy looking Scoby
Firstly a heads up for the seller, if they read this..As you can see in one of the pictures, the instructions on mine state to boil 750ml of water to make the sweet tea, while on your site and this advert it states to use 675ml water.I'd just like to point out to (inexperienced) potential buyers (like me) 675ml is the correct amount as you want to be using at least 10% of your final brew as the starter tea, incase anyone else gets the packs with the incorrect amount stated. Not sure it would make a huge difference being a complete novice, but better safe than sorry. My first attempt at brewing kombucha 🤞Very happy healthy looking Scoby, and a nice vinegar starter tea. Will update when she's brewed 🙂UPDATE:So day 6 of my first ever kombucha ferment, and as you can see from the new pictures, everything has gone to plan, so more than happy this is a quality product. A new (very thin at moment, and one side has sunk a little due to me carefully taking a sample to test ph and have a sip) scoby has started forming. At the time of this update, it shows the product being out of stock and not knowing when it will be back. Such a shame. Very good product, very reasonably priced too.Side note, I used an ordinary water filter jug (Wilko own brand) and triple filtered the water before boiling to make the tea. I'd read on many forums tap water isn't ideal because of chlorine and chloramine, the later not being easy to remove, but it's not done my scoby any harm 👍

Makes excellent kombucha
Left it a few months before reviewing, but this has been an excellent purchase. I have been following the recipe that came with the scoby and have had batches of kombucha on successful rotation for 14 weeks now. It's gotten huge and has even been divided and rehomed multiple times! At this rate kombucha will be taking over my neighbourhood! The product is a healthy, happy scoby which makes a lovely kombucha and had a very helpful guide to get me started. Recommend.

No good
Bad scoby, did not work. I followed the instructions exactly as described and it did not ferment the tea. I've been making kmobucha for about a year now, so it's not my first time trying it either.

Didn’t ferment - updated
(Updated) Unfortunately, may have received an off scoby but the company reached out to rectify the situation right away based on the below review. Very possible it was an error and not a reflection of the product generally; I will definitely give them another try.(Original) Unfortunately, did not ferment the tea. I’ve been making kombucha for a few years and never had an issue - possibly the scoby arrived dead? I’ve used a few other mail purchased scobys and they had a much stronger, kombucha-sour smell upon opening the package, which this product did not.

Amazing product
I was skeptical of buying a SCOBY online but I cannot recommend this product enough.I currently have a SCOBY hotel and I'm on my sixth first-fermentation thanks to this product as a starter. It's clearly very effective. The resulting kombucha from the scoby I bought was definitely very yeasty (brown stringy formations), which is great for carbonation during second fermentation. Bacterial content is great too as there's always a new SCOBY formation with each fermentation.Easy to use and the instructions are good, but I followed my own measurements based on my container sizes.Good value for money as you can make endless batches of kombucha

Hmm seemed to pick up contamination but tasty.
Tasty this is unless you don't like the smell of mild farts.

It works!
Was a bit worried it wasn't going to work to start with! It took a few days longer than I'd expect to come to life. I made a batch at 20 degrees as instructed.I think it was probably dormant from storage so you might want to consider letting it wake up in a covered jar for a few days before starting a batch.Other than that it seems to be a healthy culture!
