Nice coverage and performance, if used properly.
Had only used latex paint to paint furniture previously - this is quite a bit different:Don't follow packet instructions: use 2:1 warm water:powder, stir 10 min+ to get as much of the paint mixed as possible - seriously keep stirring minimum 2 times longer than you think is necessary. Let stand for 30min (there's a chemical process that occurs - it'll bubble & thicken), then strain through cheesecloth into a vessel for holding your paint. Consistency is closer to heavy cream than latex.I painted two stools. 3 coats of Red Barn (sanded and wiped between coats) + 2 coats of pitch black, rubbed with paper bag after each coat (1 coat of pitch black would have been more visually interesting, however).I like the flat finish -

Leaves a nice flat finish after a couple of coats
very interesting type of paint. Leaves a nice flat finish after a couple of coats, should be rubbed out with abrasive pad then if you want a higher shine rub with 4-0000 steel wool then a light coat of wiping varnish ( for sheen and durability) Drys quickly. For smooth finish you should mix well, let set for an hour or so, then put thru cheesecloth. Very retro

Be careful with your expectations
I work in a building insulated with natural materials. Because of that I can't use latex paint, as the walls need to "breathe" and allow moisture to evaporate from the insulation. Milk paint was the best option. Milk paint does a few different things.1) stains horribly over time. Any oily handprint will leave a discolored stain that is impossible to clean.2) dries chalky. Any change in technique can leave a different result. Going from rollers to brushes can affect the shade and appearance.3) Tends to crack, flake or peel. The pictures say it all.I bought this exact brand of paint directly from the site. I also bought two gallons of their 'Extra Bond', which seems to be a less viscous form of non-toxic school glue. Overall my company paid a lot for the paint. It congeals frighteningly fast, so you're racing against the clock to apply the paint. And it's not just because of the extra bond, either. I've tried everything I can think of to fix the cracks and peels, but anything I've done has actually made it worse. You wouldn't believe it, but trying to fix those peeled spots actually caused previously unaffected paint spots around the site to peel and crack as well. It was an absolute nightmare trying to keep up with what was happening. I've painted a lot of houses over the years and I have to say this experience made me feel like I was being trolled. Just to add to the frustration, I had to mix the paint about a pint at a time because of how fast it begins to congeal. It's like it denatures after a half hour and it really impacts the quality of your work. All in all, I love the natural color and if I were trying to paint a porch chair and wanted to make it look distressed, this would be a great route to take. If you're trying to reimagine your living room, however, please limit your expectations, have saint-like patience and if the experience leaves you traumatized, take yourself out for ice cream and try to forget about the spotty peeling, chalky-dull luster and the hours of frantic, messy stirring, rolling and brushing.
