Q: How well does this speaker work as a center in a surround setup? I'm especially interested in how well and distinct they are for dialog.

I have the single cube in the front center, with the double cubes in the front left and right positions, so I cannot answer directly. However dynamic range for these speakers are excellent and should be no problem. Use three of the same for the front and do not mix with other brands. I have single cubes minx for the 4 other positions and two minx subs for true 7.2. It is superb.

Q: Is this a pair or a single speaker?

This is a single unit, made of two speakers. You cannot separate the top and bottom speakers, they must remain as one unit. Both speakers are encased in a white and silver acrylic plastic case, very clean and low profile. Perfect for a home or apartment.

Q: What is the speaker height when laying down on its 6.2" side?
