Great Package Deal
I needed a better soldering iron for a circuit board repair and ended up selecting this unit on Amazon. Priced at around $10, I figured it was worth the gamble. What amazed me is that although it is slim, it features an adjustable temperature selection for the tip, which makes this unit a very handy item. Along with the iron, the kit includes 6 different tips, a supply of flux and solder, an iron holder and sponge.Does it work well? Flawlessly for my project. If you need something inexpensive, with all that is needed to complete a few repairs, this is the ticket!

Good deal, but with some issues.
Works great, comes with a little sponge to keep your tips clean. However I did have problems with some of the different tips being too small and just falling off. I also had issues with the provided solder: there isn’t enough of a flux core. Soldering took too long, and as such I had even ruined a potentiometer due to having to keep resoldering the same wires. However, the solder itself works wonderfully. It heats quickly, and when unattended it will turn itself off. It feels pretty durable when I am using it too.

Great build quality and great temperature control.
This replaces my 20 year-old 30 W soldering iron from RadioShack. Works perfectly and gets super hot making soldering jobs very easy. I do appreciate the adjustable temperature.

Works as advertised. Heats up fast
I recently went on a small amateur radio expedition (DXpedition) to the Galapagos Islands (HD8M). I needed an inexpensive and portable soldering iron for the tool kit so I bought this one. I used it a couple times before we left just to be sure it worked and to change the display from C to F. It heats up faster than I expected and did the couple minor jobs at home easily. Once on the island, I needed to solder three things. The first two went smoothly but on the third the iron didn't seem to stay hot enough. These were small jobs soldering ring terminals to 18 gauge copper wire. On the last one, I think I saw the numbers flashing as if the iron had an issue. In all fairness, we had problems with the AC voltage at our location and I now believe that the fluctuating voltage may have confused the soldering iron (it has a circuit board in the handle to regulate the temperature). When all three radios would transmit at the same time and if we had an air conditioner, coffee pot, or toaster oven running, the lights would go dim or flicker. More than once this caused our radios to reboot. I think this is what caused the soldering iron to struggle a bit. After I got home I checked to be sure the ceramic element was intact and that the tip was still ok. I plugged it in and it heated right up. No further issues. I tinned the tip with fresh solder and will put it away until the next trip. One observation... probably because of the way I held it, once or twice I accidentally pressed one of the buttons to adjust the temperature. It didn't change by much. I'll have to pay attention to how I grip it in the future. I would definitely recommend this to someone who needs an iron for occasional use. If you solder frequently (more than once every week or two), you might want to invest in something more robust. KE2D

Great for circuit boards.
This is light and easy to use. Used for rock crawler soldering wires. Heats quickly and just works as it should. Works on circuit boards with the fine tip. Not for heavy duty soldering.

Good price for digital soldering iron
The soldering iron does its job. However, I find the 10 second heat up time false. From power on, it takes the iron 30 seconds to begin to melt solder. This is not a big deal but they should not claim such things if not true. The flux that comes with it is utterly useless. It's a hard cube of resin that is not useful in PCB repair. I don't use this kind any way so it's really a moot point. The solder that comes with it is lead free which is trash so I will give it away. The tips are a standard assortment that will do for many tasks and are of decent quality. Overall, I'm happy with it and time will tell if it lasts. The build quality is ok, but I think if it were dropped it would suffer breakage. You can swap between C and F by holding the two buttons before plugging in. The last used temp will be retained upon power up.
