Great tool. ***PLEASE READ ENTIRE REVIEW***
I have been working around turf (enthusiastic amateur) for many years. First, I was impressed with the quality of this core aerator. While this product is more expensive than other options, the quality is excellent. I also purchased the spikes (I have not yet used the spikes). The packaging was good and the product arrived in good condition. Here are a few other comments:Make sure your lawn soil is moist...not dry and not wet. In between. The product works very well, and as you aerate, the cores will move up each tube and eventually fall out the top. Leave the cores on the grass as they contain good nutrients and microbes. The cores will decompose over time.I bought this for SPOT core aeration. By that I mean to repair areas of my lawn that may have died due to a fungus, are thinning out, etc. I have my lawn core aerated twice a year by a landscape company. If you are planning to use this tool to aerate a larger area, you may want to consider renting a core aerator (you can share it with your neighbors to reduce the cost per use). There are three primary reasons for this. One is that it will take you a fraction of the time using a gas powered core aerator versus a manual one (like this product). The second reason is that different lawns have different soil compaction, even on the same lawn. A professional core aerator has enough power to handle many types of soil. Another reason is that you can use parallel and diagonal passes to get good coverage on your lawn.If you want to get a good workout (:-) , or have a smaller area to aerate, this tool is a great option. If you are looking for a manual core aerator, you should consider purchasing this.

Excellent customer service and product!
The lawn aerator works amazingly! But also need to highlight that I had a slight delay in receiving the product. Stuff happens, which I totally understand, but most importantly it was how the seller handled the issue. I contacted the seller Landzie via Amazon and within a couple hours of me reaching out, they had expedited the shipping to me and I receive the product in less than two hours after my email to the seller. Fortunately, we were in the same state, but the seller needed to expedite custom shipping to me at their own expense. When the product arrived, it also had a handwritten letter from Joe at Landzie apologizing for the delay, but Joe wanted to ensure that it would be remedied as soon as possible. Absolutely amazed at the quality and performance of the aerator, but also the unbelievable way the seller handled the hiccup in delivery. I highly recommend the seller and product.

Worked well on loose soil. Not-so-good on compacted soil.
The good: Solid feeling tool. Smart design regarding foot placement and extension change out (hollow or spike tines). If cared for properly should last a lifetime. Customer service is fair and responsive (a few days after purchasing here on Amazon tool went on sale and company honored sale price and refunded me difference). The not-so-good (for my yard in particular): Much of my yard has a very compacted foundation. Heavy watering does little to soften. This tool will not penetrate more than two inches where the ground is most compact despite having stainless steel tips. In fact, I noticed spike tine tips becoming slightly bent which stopped me from proceeding further. I didn't dare try the hollow spikes. I was able to use both tips successfully on parts of the lawn with very loose soil. Unfortunately, the entire idea behind aerating the lawn is to facilitate air flow and fertilizer penetration. Hence, I was only successful on about 1/3 of my entire yard.

Worth the money if you want to do it yourself.
Had another aerator that did not have the hollowed out section and was too difficult to clean. This works 100% better. You still have to stop and clean them out while working with this tool, unless your ground is just perfect and the plugs just pop out. I don’t have a big yard so don’t want to rent a big machine - even though it would be faster and easier.

Worth The Effort!
So I had 4XCABG surgery last April and was looking for something to help get me moving again the following March. Boy this little device did exactly that and my gorgeous lawn is a testament to that fact.I live near a lake and have clay for soil. Have tried doing things the "easy way" and just sprayed or broadcast various products looking for that lush green lawn I knew was hiding under all of that clay to no lasting avail. After getting my Landzie I went out everyday for a week and spent hours carefully aerating my clay. People walked by and asked me what the heck I was doing, would comment, shrug and walk off thinking that crazy ol' man is gonna kill himself tearing up his yard. I kept pluggin away though. There wasn't an area of the yard that didnt have a hole every four inches. Once finished with the plugs I broadcast some biochar and let that sit while it rained. I was worried that my efforts were going to be for naught as we also happened to get a pretty rough hail storm as I imagined $80 worth of product washing away and a weeks worth of holes being filled in. Upon review after the storm my holes were still there...not so sure about the biochar but was hoping some got caught in holes before washing away. The plugs were no longer to be found though so after drying out I continued my "exercises" and over seeded the clay and fertilized my yard. It was a long 4 weeks as I watched my yard get over run by weeds. Thought I had really screwed things up as now I had a clay yard with holes, weeds, and was the laughing stock of the neighborhood but I endeavored to persevere. After letting the weed jungle go I hiked up the mower from previous scalping earlier that year (before starting the process) and gave my weeds a good choppin. The next week I put down a weed and feed and let things sit. Well it's now Mother's Day and we have the greenest most plush lawn in the entire subdivision and it all started with this awesome Landzie I got at the end of Feb.When it first arrived I tightened up the screws holding the hollow tines and then sprayed the inside of tines with WD-40. When I left mud in them at the end of the day it was easy to remove the following morning with a screw driver. The Landzie also came with some Yard Jart type spikes but I have not used those yet. This fall I plan to do it all again as the results from this spring's efforts was nothing short of phenomenal. Highly recommend if you're looking for a good activity that will also help beautify your lawn beyond your expectations. Have also spot treated some low lying areas that were a bit slow to grow and some bare areas in shade around some trees and am now growing grass where there was only bare dirt/clay before. For anyone wondering my strength and muscle stamina has improved to the point I feel better than I have in years. Get outside if you can, enjoy the work, the weather, and fruits of your labor. As a side benefit which was completely unexpected my crepe myrtles and other trees have not bloomed and looked this good in years and I truly believe my Landzie made all the difference.
