Well made and seems lasting…
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I felt this would be more durable than a baseplate compass. It is a little more difficult to figure out than a baseplate compass but it definitely fits the bill.

Excellent Compass
OK now this compass works perfectly. I was unfamiliar with the directions in my area and I needed to know this because when I pray I need to face east. This wonderful little compass all that problem. It has a great design. I love the bag that it comes in. I definitely recommend buying this compass.

Solid quality for price, sighting lens a plus, lacks declination adjustment
Very solid build quality and functionality for what it is, at this price. Lensatic sighting feature is a big plus, but I wish it had declination adjustment, like my old Suunto orienteering compass does (and my ancient Brunton lensatic compass), but of course if you know the magnetic deviation from true North in your location, you can always add/subtract from your reading. Bought as a gift for a young adult, and gave him a quick lesson on how to do this (and why) - hope it sticks!

Good choice
Big hit with outdoorsy SIL. Spent an hour reviewing the unit and all the instructions. Loved the functions, decent weight, easy to work with. Grandson asked for one as well.

Really Cool and NOT Worthless (as Previously Reported)
A genuinely cool and what appears to be a solidly made military-style compass. It has great features that I really love. Sighting the compass is very easy, as is taking a bearing. I like the sighting lens that clearly shows the azimuth, the really cool leveling bubble, and the fluorescent dial and arrow. The carrying pouch is well-made and appears to be waterproof (or at least water-resistant) -- all in all this should have been a great purchase, and would have been except for one thing -- when I checked it against four other compasses,* I found that this compass is off by about ten-degrees, which in my opinion makes it worthless for any sort of serious navigation.*Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety. Proverbs 11:14Update -- 24 May 18 First let me say that my review was an honest appraisal, and it is a truly cool and what appears to be a solidly made military-style compass. I do love the many great features this compass has and it seems to be very easy to use. Quite frankly, I didn't (don't) need another compass, but I actually WANTED TO BUY this compass, as it reminded me of one that I had seen in a book. My initial tests -- which I conducted several times -- led me to the conclusion that their compass was off by about ten-degrees; per the request of the Sportneer Customer Satisfaction Team (in the comments section of this review) I intended to send them an e-mail detailing the problem I had with their compass. However before writing/sending their e-mail, I decided to go out and conduct the same tests that I had conducted earlier to test the accuracy of their compass. This time I came up with different results. Perhaps because this compass makes sighting and reading the azimuth so easy, I am mistaking accuracy for inaccuracy (most compasses are only graduated in two degree increments as opposed to one). Since it now appears that I may be the one in error, I am changing my review appropriately.

Can't complain for the price it's a good compass.
It's a great compass for the money.I like that it's not a cheap plastic and it's sturdy. However I don't like the one and only thing I've found to be wrong with it. The ring on top is loose and it could throw off coordinates as it is shakey and not well attached. On the other hand it could just be the one I bought and not an actual defect or flaw in the design? For the price it's not bad though as long as it doesn't get me lost it is worth it and I've used it and it worked fine. It has a pretty nice canvas water resistant molle pouch and will easily be able to attach to most any style pack or even your belt. The pouch has a study brass snap to hold the flap closed and easily unsnaps for access to the compass. Make sure when you use the dial it's flat and you'll get an accurate reading cause it likes to sit half cocked and crooked. This sometimes will give false readings. If your not paying attention it could get you into places you don't want to go. Other than that it's a good compass.
