Calling all Space Rangers….
Disney hit the mark again with this huge 10 inch tall talking Buzz Lightyear figure. As you would expect from a licensed Disney product, the quality of the figure is first class and attention to detail is great. All parts and components have been well made using only high quality machine mouldings. It looks and feels like a really strong, robust and durable toy that can more than handle some of the punishment it will undoubtedly receive through either a little rough play or that dished out from an over enthusiastic child. It has a true likeness of the Buzz character to which I would expect no less. There has obviously been several different iterations of Buzz play figures over the years and this latest version comes equipped with a karate style chopping action as well as having the ability to quote multiple phrases from the film franchise. To activate Buzz’s chopping action there is a purple button on the back to which you simply need to slide it down which in turn moves his arm up and down. The button is spring loaded so once depressed will automatically revert back to position meaning you can press it repeatedly to mimic a chopping action. The action figure is fairly articulated with knees and arms partially jointed (the chopping arm is fixed at the elbow joint). As well as being able to pose your Buzz his helmet can be opened and closed too.The figure is loaded with 30+ random phrases. It does sound like Buzz although I don’t directly know if they used Tim Allen’s voice or not for these recordings. The phrases are fairly familiar for the most part and any child (or adult) will easily recognise most from the various different films that have been released over the years. Fortunately it’s not too loud either unlike most children toys these days and is genuinely quite bearable. Batteries are pre-installed but can be replaced - It takes 3x button cell LR44 batteries. Buzz stands 10 inches tall so is fairly sizeable for an action figure. It doesn’t differ hugely from other previous releases of this figure by Disney, but this Buzz still remains an absolute iconic character and dare I say, even a future classic. Collectable? Possibly not, but this action figure still represents great value for your money. There really isn’t anything to dislike about this at all and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Well done Disney, another awesome product! ‘To Infinity and Beyond’….

Decent quality, with moving limbs and sounds, he stands 10 inches tall
Disney Pixar Toy Story Action Chop Buzz LightyearWho doesn't love Buzz Lightyear? My son had a similar figurine of Buzz many years ago when the first Toy Story movie was released. This toy looks very similar (which I guess it would), in size and functionality, it does seem much the same. I remember those early models became quite collectable, I'm not so sure if the same will apply to this model? This particular toy seems well made from good quality plastic, the colours are bright and vibrant. Buzz arrives set inside an open box so you can press his buttons and listen to his sounds. The voice is clearly that of Tim Allen, the sound is crisp and clear, apparently there are over 30 different sounds and phrases to listen to.Like the previous Buzz Lightyear toy, all parts are movable so you can place his limbs in various poses. Unlike the original Buzz Lightyear model which had 4 buttons on his chest that worked, this only has a single working button on his chest, the others are there but are part of the plastic mould. On the back of Buzz is a further button which when pressed provides the chop chop action. He is powered by 3 LR44 batteries which are included and already installed.Overall this is a well made nostalgic toy, maybe not quite up to the same standard as the original Buzz but those are as rare as Hens teeth now. The toy is described as a 12 inch model, but he does only stand 10 inches tall, so I am guessing they have included the box in that measurement. Overall, he's a worthwhile Buzz to own.Thank you for reading my review, I hope you have found it helpful.

A new Buzz for his new movie - as fantastic as ever
We've had a Buzz lightyear in the house since getting the Techno Gear Buzz for our young son in the late 90's. He's old but still kicking and Buzz is a likeable and fun a toy for the next generation as it was for the last. This new Buzz comes in the classic colours, being released in time for the new "LIghtyear" movie this summer. This one comes with both the classic front button to make his talk but also now a rear button that makes his right arm chop, moving that arm in turn triggers another set of phrases. This leads to a lot more phrases that Buzz ever used to have, loads of variety for play.Articulation is great with multiple joints on the arms and legs , feet and hands plus rotation around the midriff and the head. The helmet also opens and closes. It feels solid and robust and ready for play.Overall this is such an iconic figure now (amazing to see it with something that was all new not long before my son was born) and this is the best version of him that I've seen. This will be getting a lot of play from our younger family members and be proudly watching over the study when he's not being used ..Who knows what he'll be getting up to when we aren't watching? Maybe i should get a camera in there to keep an eye?
