Perfect for home automations
Perfect for home automations and can fit in small spaces pretty inconspicuously.

Works great...but needed an external capacitor to initiate a power-on-reset
Needed a 10uF capacitor between GND and IO0 to reliably reset after a power cycle. Works reliably after that. Ethernet performance/speed is great.

great combination of features, low price
I needed a controller board with both WiFi and an Ethernet port. There's no documentation that comes with the board, but there's plenty of youtube videos and posts about it online. I was able to get it connected and working in a few minutes. You'll need a USB to TTL converter to program the board. I used the HiLetgo CP2102 USB 2.0 to TTL Module Serial Converter Adapter Module USB to TTL Downloader with Jumper Wires. That device also provides 5V for the board. There is Arduino development environment support for this module. You'll find some how to instructions if you search for the board name and Arduino. The pins are soldered "upside down" from the typical orientation, but that doesn't matter for my project. If you search for wireless tag WT32-S1 you'll find useful documentation about the chip, pin outs, etc..

Utter trash
Even if you can get this into flash mode (like all other dev boards a few years back, you need a Serial TTL programmer) the flash gets corrupted on the next boot. I tried 3 different pre-built BIN files as well as a quick-and-dirty piece of software of my own creation. Just absolute junk. Save you time and just buy a decent esp32 dev-board then a SPI Ethernet breakout. You will thank me later.

Edit 3/17/2023 - Would recommend! Was semi-easy to flash it with WLED with a usb/serial programmer
Was easy to flash with WLED, using it as a LED controller for RGB pixels christmas light show. Needed a ESP32 controller with ethernet to reach out into the yard beyond WiFi range. Has 6 available channels to us for pixels.Edit!! 3/18/2023!I found out that this board only has 5 output GPIO pins! Instead of 6. GPIO5 is actually GPIO35 (input only) according to the official documentation on the board! Just FYI !!!!!

Works for a while, but suffers from random lockups and errors
I knew exactly what I was buying and how to use it. An ESP32 with an on-board ethernet interface and no USB-Serial chip. I flashed the board with WLED 0.14.0-b1 without a problem and it was put to work running a single string of 504 WS2815 LED's that had a wifi esp32 running then before with no issues.Unfortunately, this board suffers some sort of issue where it will randomly lock up and become unresponsive. The only way to get it back running is a power cycle. I would blame the software, but WLED 0.14 on a WiFi ESP32 never seems to have any issues over the months I ran it. Nor has it had any issues since.I don't know what is going on with this board, but I am not impressed. It's exactly what I need if the stability could just be improved.
