There are many shaving soaps and creams available and I have tried a good few of them. This is the best I have tried and this is the one I'll be sticking with. It is fairly mildly scented (very nice scent) and the scent doesn't linger after the rinse, but it does make shaving smell nice. The wooden bowl is very nice and the soap lasts for ages.The most important thing is, of all those I have tried, this provides the best shave; the smoothest and most comfortable. I have tried other, well-known brands that make the same claim (e.g. Mitchell's Wool Fat), but none has provided as smooth a shave as Taylor's. This may be due to differences in water hardness (I live in London where the water is very hard), different razors (I use an Edwin Jagger Chatsworth Barly with Feather blades)or shaving style or even different faces for that matter, but the difference is easily noticable to me against all the other brands I have tried.I will not say it is the best, just that it is the best for my particular combination of water, razor, shaving style and, very important, face. Of course, it is always each to their own, but if you are sampling different shaving soaps and searching for the best 'for you', I would certainly give Taylor's a go.

I wrote a review saying how I was a Proraso convert. That was until a friend suggested I try TOBS products, this is pure luxury in a well crafted wooden bowl and I shall definitely be buying a refill. The creamy texture and the traditional aroma makes shaving more of a pleasure than a chore. I suggest that you leave a little more water in the shaving brush than you might with other soaps to get the perfect lather.I also got the sandalwood aftershave from my wife as a Christmas stocking filler which is the perfect compliment to the shaving soap.

I like it. It smells nice and works great. I think it is overpriced for what it is. The wooden bowl looks good but I found after about 8 months it has started turning black at the bottom due to moisture damage.

I treated myself to a small array of shaving soaps, with this being one of them. The puck is presented in a nice wooden bowl and the fragrance hits you hard - in a nice way. Being a hard soap, it only takes a minute to load a brush with enough soap to make a nice creamy lather (either in a mug, hand or separate bowl). A fantastic, close shave is the result with a distinctive yet subtle fragrance that's very pleasing indeed. And with such a good quality soap, skin is left feeling clean, smooth and hydrated (so no need for balm). To enjoy the lovely post-shave aroma there's no need for aftershave either.

TOBS is an old school soap.The sandalwood scent is the best sandalwood out there and brings memories from old barbershops !Lathers easily it has great slickness and last for ages cos is triple milled soap.

Attractively packaged and presented in a wooden bowl that doesn't look out of place in the bathroom. The soap has a very pleasant smell and my husband is very happy with it. He much prefers this type of soap to canned cream soaps.

I've been using Body Shop shaving cream for more years than I can remember, finding it the best that I had tried. I bought this after reading reviews and I have to say that it makes shaving with a cut-throat razor much easier. The wooden bowl is stylish to have in the bathroom and the soap lathers well with the brush. The razor glides easily and the scent is pleasant and mild. My wife likes it! I bought the re-fill as well to save postage. The Body Shop tub used to last a year and the way this is going it's likely to last a year also.
