Excellent everyday kettle
This kettle replaced a cheaper plastic model that had to be returned to tesco because of the foul taste of plastic it left in every cup of tea. No problem with this Kenwood model, no residual taste left, very quick to boil, maybe not the quietest electric kettle but noise levels are acceptable and at least it doesn't take long! The best part for me is the handling, the filter removes easily but fits securely, the lid snaps closed with a solid feel, no danger of it opening as you pour and the handle has a rubber finish that is pleasantly secure and tactile. All in all a well designed and well made product. We are very pleased with it.

A useful, reliable kettle.
Plusses: good functional design - pours well, easy to fill, filter is effective and is easily removed for cleaning. And being cordless makes handling easy as it can be replaced on base in any position. The capacity scale is easily read from either side and the overall shape is pleasing and the plastic of which it is made does not discolour with use - this replaces a similar one that lasted for years. Add to that that the kettle is at the less expensive end of the scale and it is clearly a winner. Minuses: can't think of any, and I was trained as a designer.

Very good kettle for the price
The kettle looks good — mostly white, with a few grey bits — and would probably fit in with most decors. My impression is that it boils faster than my old kettle, and it is certainly quieter — though I’m sure there are quieter ones on the market.I like the fact that there’s a window on each side of the kettle, as it makes it easy to fill to the correct level. The levels are marked in cups, from 1 to 6.The handle grips well (though I haven’t actually tested it with wet hands), and pouring is much, much easier than my old kettle. The filter is easy to lift out and rinse. The one minor criticism I have is that the lid flips back a little bit energetically, and there is a danger that drops of hot water could be flicked onto bare forearms — I noticed this when I pre-boiled the kettle prior to using it for the first time. It’s not a big issue for me, though: I’m not in the habit of flicking the lid open immediately after boiling. All in all, I’m pleased with my purchase, and I would have given it 4.5 stars if I could have.

Second time around, still an excellent kettle!
I bought this as a replacement for the same model of kettle for my parents. The previous kettle lasted many years but was starting to misbehave. The replacement has been just like the old one, and works perfectly. We're heavy tea drinkers and so it has been used a lot with no issues. What we love about this kettle is the soft but non-slip handle, the visible water levels on both sides and that the lid can be opened using a button (useful for when it's very hot... why so many kettles don't have this is beyond me!).

Practical and attractive
Kenwood have been making this particular model of kettle for a many years. The one I have just bought is the fourth I’ve had of this design; they tend to last for 3 or 4 years before any problems seem to occur. I’ve always been so pleased with this design that I had no hesitation in buying exactly the same model again. There are several reasons I like this model so much:It looks smartIt’s quick to boilThe lid flicks open easily with the same hand that is holding the kettleThe capacity guide is easy to see (being on the side of kettle) and very clear to readIt is of a good capacity without being bulkyIt’s easy to lift on and off the base plateIt has a decent length cord which can be shortened by winding underneath the base plateIt is very reasonably priced.

Super kettle - once TCP dealt with
This kettle has a really good lid mechanism (a let-down in our previous kettle), boils quite quickly and quietly, and feels well made. The handle is good and the "on" switch has a bright light - quite attractive! It is light - many kettles are just too heavy for my rather weak wrist - and pours and fills well. The only problem was, as noted by another reviewer, a strong taste of TCP even after many boilings. Research elsewhere revealed this is due to a release agent on plastic mouldings, which clings through any treatments with water alone but can be removed using bicarbonate of soda. Added two teaspoons, water up to max level, boiled once more and the taste has gone! Many other kettles, even stainless steel ones, apparently suffer from funny tastes and all seem to be curable by this method.Update after more than three years of use : sadly the kettle has started leaking at the base. It has been such a good kettle that I will be buying another one. To get three years of constant, quite heavy use seems pretty good to me at this price.
