Does the job well, violin always in perfect tune now
I bought my son a new violin, upgraded from a Half size to a Stentor Student II Full Size. It came completely untuned, however I downloaded a great app to my phone and managed to tune it without much difficulty.Problem was that the violin lost it's tune every couple of days, it was really annoying having to tune it constantly. After googling the problem I came across Hiderpaste, and despite some negative reviews, but mostly positive ones decided to purchase. In order to apply the paste it is important to totally remove the string and peg so that you can coat the peg all over. This took a littl emore googling to figure out the best way to string and twist the string to ensure it was put back perfectly. The most important thing to do is make sure that you have the least angle possible going from the string back towards the head of the violin, this way it will be less inclined to pull the peg outwards - i.e. remain tight. After all this, the violin now retains its tune, needing very little tuning now, pretty much back to what I would expect - so much better and less hassle now being able to just micro adjust the violin in a few minutes, as opposed to total retune taking 10 minutes previously!!!A great purchase....

Essential product for a few people.
If you own a cello you will at some time need this peg paste. Absolutely essential.

Meh!
More difficult to apply than a lip-balm style and not great for anti-slipping imho.

Works pretty well
I was not sure if this would fix my peg slipping problem or if I'd have to take it to the Luthier. Turns out it had helped tremendously and my violin doesn't lose its tuning as easily as it did. It does the job and you get a lot for your money.

Good for all tuning pegs
I have played guitar for years and collect stringed instruments. One of which is an oud. It was impossible to tune. Either the pegs were too tight or would back after you tuned them.An application of the paste an it asks possible to tune the oud and keep it in tune.I still hate peg tuners

Did exactly the opposite to what was intended
Hidersine is a brand that's been around for ages, and if the description is to be believed, violinists and violin shops swear by this stuff.I bought this as a temporary cure for slipping pegs until I can get my instrument overhauled... and the first peg I used it on refused to grip at all. I had to clean it off, and roughen the peg and the holes in the peg box with emery paper, before it would hold again. Thank goodness I had only tried it on one peg!I think maybe the clue is in the description on Amazon's product page, which says: "...pegs will sometimes slip or bind due to atmospheric changes." According to my reasoning, slipping and binding are completely opposing problems, and therefore require different solutions. Surely a binding peg needs something to slightly lubricate it (which maybe this somewhat waxy product does), whereas a slipping one requires increased grip - which it most certainly didn't, on my violin at any rate.
