Best Photography Book I Have Ever Purchased!
I have a fairly large number of photography books, including all of Salgado's. This is the best book I have ever purchased! It is the result of years of effort by Salgado with the assistance of the Brazilian Army, the state's indigenous people agency, interpreters, etc. Salgado's team in Paris is large and highly skilled. Individual photographs from the book are available from ten to forty thousand dollars, but if you don't have that kind of money, purchase this spectacular book and you'll spend hours pouring over the great photos and fascinating text.

Great black and white photographs of the Amazon and the indigenous people
This is a great book with outstanding photos and a lot of information about the indigenous people. There are several blank pages in the book that I think could have been used for pictures.I also wish, the captions would be right under the photos instead of at the end of the book. Having to move back and forth makes it a bit tedious, especially since this is a large and heavy book. But the photos are well worth it!

A Waypoint in the Popular Study of Amazonia
Those whose interest is non professional must, of course, see this book. Maybe professionals will have an interest too.The many aerial photos of the landscape underwhelmed me. B&W doesn't seem suited to the subject. I'm sure the actual prints in the exhibition are significantly better. The images of the people are outa this world. They do what art is supposed to do: got me brooding, imagining, wondering. It just arrived. This review is of my first pass. But there's so much. It'll take a while. 500 pages. I haven't started on the text, which I expect to be thought provoking.

culture
The images of other cultures are a work of humanity. I hope people realize the impact of preservation of our natural world. Excellent.
