This is a decent replacement for my 2015 Ford Ecosport key fob, where the open/close buttons have seen better days. It was easy to follow various videos to resite the motherboard and battery but nowhere was there mention of the need to transfer the RFID/PATS chip. If you do not transfer this chip then the engine will not start! Sadly, removing this chip can be hit and miss, as in some fobs it is glued in and care is required.

Got the correct key in the end, working perfectly

Exactly what I needed

First thing is, no instructions that told me about the spring mechanism. If you have this key, you know the key flips up when you press the silver button. When replacing, you have to insert the spring, the key, and then the button, before pre-winding the key anti clockwise, and then stick the top plastic key on. This means the spring is trying to flick the key up - how the original does it. It took me ages to get it just right -the original silver button has a much better notch inside it for the spring, so suggest you use that instead of the one that comes with this unit. I used a little bit of heat on the original to get the Ford sticker off the original to then stick on this. Overall, it's a pretty good replacement - the original was really difficult to take apart (the top piece that holds the key and spring mechanism), where this version is a lot easier. I pretty much destroyed the original taking it apart (it was broken anyway), but be careful if you want to keep yours.

So easy to change over looks like new again

I strongly advise that before buying one of these, you check you can easily open and gain access to the transponder chip in your existing key fob first. I found that mine was superglued in and was not removable. Unfortunately I also found that my existing key blade didn’t fit smoothly into the new body anyway so wouldn’t open and close. A waste of money.
