A very well designed and machined plane. Equal to some pricy ones .
I bought this plane a few weeks ago. Starting right from unpacking everything was a pleasant surprise because this thing is very low priced but the quality is very impressive. Going through the set up process was very quick because I really go a good one. The sides were dead square to the bottom. The bottom plane surface took just a few minutes to get it flat. The blade was a big surprise ! When checking for flat it was hollowed just like a Japanese chisel. That was pure luck. Sharpening took just a reasonable time and I was able to put the best razor edge I've done to date. After reassembly and getting the blade right, it planed beautifully. Really good fit in my hand, super comfortable. Nice weight. Bottom line, this is a terrific buy ! They nailed it with this one same as the mini plane. It's a gem too. After set up these easily perform as well as th much higher priced planes, and I have a few of those.

Quality plane at a fantastic price.
Out of the box it was ready to go. I disassembled it and looked all the parts over carefully. The dole was dead flat. I found no sloppy machine work. The blade was also flawless. I reassembled it and did some planing. This tool worked perfectly.

***After tuning ***, this is a nice little block plane.
This plane is great, but it does require some sweat-equity.The caveats:1. As sold, the sole was concave and the sides were not parallel. Flattening the sole and sides was quick and easy with a disc sander. (Manual lapping would have taken ages.)2. The back of the blade required about 30 minutes of lapping to flatten on diamond stones.3. When storing the plane loosening the thumb wheel allows the lever-cap to detach. It would be nice to relieve the tension on the plane without allowing it to disassemble. All that said - the blade is thicker than with most cheap block planes, and it's held an edge well against cherry.All-in, this plane is an excellent value.

Much better than you’d expect. Certainly better than the Stanley for the same money.
Excellent small block plane. Well presented in its box, shipped nicely oiled. You could use it as is - there was a pronounced burr on the blade, but it would have worked - but I never expect an ended tool to come perfectly set. Five minutes honing the bevel to remove the tool marks (the back of the blade came with the merest hollow behind the cutting edge, I’ll take that). The sole was usably flat, again, a couple minutes on a diamond plate, registered nicely behind the mouth and at the heel. The blade is hard, keeps a good edge. Much thicker than the Stanley 60 1/2 it’s based on. After setup, wispy edge grain shavings from maple, finely set, cleans up end grain well with no chatter. There is no lateral adjustment incorporated in the blade advance screw, so it’s a case of slack the cap iron slightly, advance the blade and sight down the sole. Easy. The blade beds well with the frog, and is securely held when snugged up.Well worth the price

Wow
I own a few planes, craftsman, Dunlop, and Sargent. And this plane itself is a beast of a plane, beautiful whispy shavings, or you can hog out any material, it’s fairly simple to adjust the cutting edge to get that perfect shine you want when taking material off for flatness. All in all it’s a great investment and it definitely will make great work of future projects!

Meh, some people will like it
Needed a lot of lapping on the sole, rough cut edges, and a piece of metal in the corner of the mouth broke out. I can see they used a thick blade which many will like and it is quality. The whole plane was wider and heavier than the original, which is not a benefit in my opinion. Price for product is good, but the product isnt really what i wanted.

Surprised by the quality
Really nice little handplane for the bucks. It is well finished, all the threads work smoothly, the sole was nice and flat from the box. Even the blade was fairly well sharpened from the box.
