Long enough to be useful. I previously bought a short one but this one allows better space to organise both hands on the handles

Very pleased with this plane. It lives up to the Stanley quality and performs well. It's also a good price.

So straight out of the box this thing is completely useless. It is essential to spend a good while sharpening the blade. Once you have it shaving hairs it will start to work.Next thing is the way of adjusting the depth. It seems like it should be straight forward, with the little twisty knobs, but it's not. To be honest the twisty knobs do nothing. Basically you need to open the middle one, manually position the blade, and just lock them all in place once you are happy with the depth and squareness. It's finicky.Finally, if this is you first plane, it's not the same design as the standard Stanley planes. Higher quality planes can be adjusted much easier than this and have more components.Basically only buy this if you want to try out planning. It will do you to get your head around a few concepts, but you will immediately want a better one.

It's a workman's plane, it's by stanley, it's not exciting but it's precision quality

Good product, planed well. Easy and comfortable to use.

Used the Plane on several doors in the house. Actually setting up the plane was the trickiest part as it was a bit fiddly but after that it was good to use and got the job done.
