Soft but smells
The only problem I had with this product is that out of the package, the foam smelled of chemicals and I could feel some kind of coating on it. The smell dissipated after we aired it out for 3 days while we were out of town, but it still feels "coated". The foam almost immediately expanded to full thickness, within an hour of coming out of the package. We use it for the spare bed that has a steel platform frame, and I slept on it 2 nights. I did notice an improvement in our original 4 inch mattress' comfort. The foam is very cushiony, almost too soft, but the cover adds an extra layer of padding, which is all I really wanted. So now if we have overnight guests, I won't feel bad about having them sleep on that mattress. I recommend this mattress pad and it is at a fair price point.
