Is the fabric super warm? Our baptism is in 3 weeks but it gets warm in NC

My 7 month old is wearing 12-18 months in gap, old navy carters etc. He is currently almost 24 lbs and 28+ inches. What size do you recomend?

It says to order 0-3m for a baby who is 3-6mths old. He is 3mths, around 14lbs and 63.5cm long. Will this fit him or should i get the 3mth one?
