Q: what is the highest temperature it will reach?

I just bought mine and seasoned it on the high setting. After it reached 300 the plan was to let it run for an hour @ that temp. but after about a half hour it had climbed to 400. It probably would've went higher but I backed it down to med. setting and it held at 300 for the remainder of the time.

Q: After about a year of use the heating element started tripping any GFI plugin.I am looking for a replacemnt element and thermostat.Has anyone found 1?

Gfi plugs are very susceptible to malfunctioning. Especially when using things that pull a lot of watts. Outside receptacles usually don't have gfi's anyway.

Q: Has the manufacturer solved the drain problem?

not that i am aware of. i went to home depot, bought a piece of sheet metal and fashioned a pan that i can set the whole smoker in and that solved the problem. just remember to seal the corners

Q: Where can you find a replacement heating element for this smoker?

outdoor leisure products sells them although their website is temporarily down.
