AFFAVioletas Francesas Cologne

I don't know what it is about the scent of violets... I have never seen a real scented violet, only the unscented backyard kind and African violets, yet I have always been drawn to this scent as if it were a distant part of my past. It makes me feel nostalgic and daydreamy.I was looking on Amazon for another cologne and came upon this. The positive reviews and inexpensive price encouraged me to buy it, and I am so glad I did. I used to wear Yardley's violet perfume, but honestly I like this one even better. It has a strong smell of alcohol when you open the bottle and apply it, but the instant it's dry on the skin, it softens to a beautiful, delicate, slightly powdery, true violet scent. I like that it's not a spray, because at this price I like splashing it on liberally! Some folks say it does not last long. I think we get used to the scent when we've been wearing it for awhile, because my husband has said they can still smell it hours after I've put it on. He likes it too.I first saw this in a package with a child's picture on it and it was advertised as a baby cologne. But further searching led me to this version with a more "adult" package and label. (I was prepared to buy the baby one, though! Same company, same cologne). I just love this and hope it will always be available.

Excellent Fragrance, good size

It smells divine. I wear it to bed. It smells like candied violets that gently lull you to sleep. Best 12 bucks I've ever spent.

This scent is incredibly inexpensive, yet, make no mistake, it is potent: an intense candied violets scent, reminiscent of VIOLETTA DI PARMA, yet sweeter and less green/herbal. It goes on smelling purply and redolent of candied violets, similar to the smell of those old C.HOWARDS violet lozenges or 1960's LIDDLE KIDDLE dolls. In a few minutes, its strength subsides, and becomes more baby powder-ish. This is a cheap way to get your violet on, and, as I understand it, has long been a favorite, especially applied to babies, in Spain, Miami and Latin America.

MY GRANDMOTHER ALWAYS WORE A VIOLET COLOGNE THAT WAS LIGHT AND CLEAN SMELLING AND BROUGHT BACK WONDERFUL MEMORIES. THIS IS NOT IT!!!. IT IS FODDER FOR NIGHTMARES. HARSH, REEKS OF ALCOHOL AND WONT EVEN WASH OFF. NOW I FIND THAT I CANNOT EVEN RETURN IT. A WASTE OF MONEY AND A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. IT IS GOING IN THE TRASH IMMEDIATELY

I cannot believe people spray children with this. It smells like old people's things to me, and I couldn't get it off me even after washing with soap. Definitely nothing natural about this scent.

It smell fresh and powdery after it dries on your skin. Doesn't last long the smell but it's understandable because it is not a perfume. Smells kind of violets but not quite, still for everyday even more in summer it works.
