This is the third one I have ordered for my nearly blind mother. It is perfect, and absolutely indispensable, when she goes to a restaurant, unless midday and she sits right in a window. The easy portability and quality of the light are both really wonderful. We have progressed now to using two to light her meal enough that she can see a tiny bit in always too dark restaurants.

I needed a light for a crafting event on a Caribbean cruise in February 2025. This light was perfect! It takes AAA batteries that doesn't come with it, no problem. I used the case it was packaged in to keep it from being damaged in my checked luggage. The hardest part was cutting into the surrounding plastic. Once opened, insert the batteries and easy to use. Just lift the light and it comes on. Sleek looking. Now I can have an extra light wherever I need, very versatile and light weight. Take extra batteries just in case. Love it!! No more cords!!

This is one of the worse Ott lights I have ever had! It was nice and bright for about 4 hours--then he was very dim!!!

This works great for travel (embroidery meetings, seminars etc) I use a different one for home use. I am replacing the same light that I’ve had for several years. The old one only works now when opened to a certain angle. Must be the inside wiring. I use an AC adapter. Hopefully this one will accept the same. There is a small opening but no where does the description state the possibility. This lamp eats batteries. It only lasts a short time using 3 AAA. I use my lamp at stitching outings and would take at least 6 extra batteries in my stitching bag. We purchased the ac adapter & insert at Radio Shack. Not sure where you would do it now.

This is a decent craft light. I keep it in my crop bag permanently and bought the cell phone charger to use with it that others wrote about. I have never used the batteries so I don't know how it performs that way. It has a bright light and is so lightweight it doesn't feel like it adds any weight to my bag at all. The only problem I have with it is that it is so short. I had to put it up on something to illuminate a bigger area. Also because it is so light if you bump or shake your work table it looks like it might fall over although it usually doesn't. I would buy it again and had people stop at my last crop and ask where I got it.

Great portable light. Illumination is perfect for small projects. And the wavelength is color correct.

I really like the Ott Lite for reading and needle work. My only complaint is that the batteries don't last very long before the light starts to fade.

Very disappointing! Ineffective illumination, reboxed or refurbished unit, hard to find power supply...1- First, the lamp arrived in what seems original package, but the lamps has scratches everywhere all over the plastic casing. It is a reboxed or refurbished unit? Or OttLite has poor manufacturing quality standards?2- Second, I'm very disappointing about the range of the lamp (with new batteries). Put along side a regular 8 1/2" x 11" letter paper (landscape mode), the lamp lights up well only half of the page, you can see the illumination gradually decreasing on the other half of the page. So this lamp doesn't even have a proper illumination for a single sheet of paper. *** Update : After some testing, in a complete darken room, the lamp does cover a small 8 1/2" x 11" letter paper, but not more.3- Third, OttLite on their web site says that their Natural Daylight Illumimation technology offers a Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) of 5000K-5800K. I tested it with a colorimeter on a regular white sheet of paper, result : only 4800 Kelvin.4- Four, this lamp can operate with a 4.5 volts DC adapter (not included...). I was unable to find one on the net, not even directly from China! The only one found is a 25$ multi-voltage DC power adapter, so the same price as the lamp! So I wrote an e-mail to OttLite to ask if I could use instead a 5 volts adapter (largely available on the net). Their answer was no, they do not recommend using anything else than a 4.5 volts adapter. I then e-mailed them back again asking if they could suggest a brand and a model of 4.5 volts adapter. Their answer : no. And that's not it! When OttLite answered my e-mail, the rep said I have to use 3.4mm adpater. Good luck to find that on the net! I asked him if a a "regular" largely available 3.5mm would work, the rep's answer was : "You can try the 3.5, but I cannot say if it will work." So OttLite customer service was not helpful at all.Some pros :- Very light weight (even the batteries inside), so perfect for carrying.- Very small footprint when close, the round base has a diameter of about 3 1/2".- Easy access to the batteries compartment without any tool (no screwdriver required).
