no leaks even when submerged in water
Excellent bags, no leaks when submerged in one foot of water overnight with agitation. Plastic is thick, feels sturdy. Well worth the price, I've ordered some 16x24" bags as well.

Not that smell-proof
I used this bag to contain the smell of jars of garlic I am fermenting. I would say it reduced the smell in my kitchen by 90%, which is adequate for my purposes I guess, but I thought bags that keep bears from smelling food would also keep humans from smelling strong garlic odors. It seemed proportional based on how acute the respective senses of smell are. The bags have held up and they feel sturdy if youโre careful with the seam (which I have been after reading other reviews).

Just a Large Zip Lock Bag
I'm sure these contain much of the smell of food and other personal items when used as designed. I've used previous purchases of this brand on backpacking trips in the past and felt they were effective. After about 10 trips, those bags seemed to be pretty worn. I purchased these new ones for a canoe camping trip. I had a lot of trouble getting the zip closer to work. I like the concept a lot, just didn't work for me.

Important Investment
You don't realize how important these are until you have a flood. I kept my important documents in a safety deposit box in a bank.Well, along came Hurricane Sandy, and the bank flooded. All my important documents were full of muddy, sandy water and had to be thrown out. I don't know why banks don't tell you that safety deposit boxes aren't waterproof. Wish I had known. Now I keep my important documents in these bags. Don't wait till it happens to you. I never thought it would happen to me, and it did, and if it does, you don't want to lose your important papers.

Good, need to be in a pouch so they don't puncture
After a fateful incident with a cup of coffee and my backpack, I now use these for papers I need to carry in there. The double seal and thicker plastic keeps water out, but they need to be protected from other stuff in your bag. I have them inside a $2 white zipper document pouch from Daiso to protect the bags and am very happy.

Odor Proof
Use this product for hiking on the AT has proven effective against shelter critters and larger animals alike. Stored food, toiletries, and trash items. Have not had a food bandit make off with anything yet. Remember to wash your hands and wipe outside of bag before hanging for the night critters will smell residual odors from your hands after sealing.

but my sister recommended them as she uses them for the same purpose
My wife uses these to read books on her iPad in the bath. I was hesitant, but my sister recommended them as she uses them for the same purpose. The material feels flimsier than I'd like, but after several months of steady use there's been no problem with durability.

Great for backpacking!
Bought a few of these to put my snacks in while backpacking in Yosemite. Worked great, lightweight, durable, and believe me I was rough on them.
