Rosita......
Why Rosita? Her character was just starting to develop in the series. And she was going to have a baby. This was so heartbreaking. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

The Walking Dead graphic novels are still going strong
Walking Dead Volme 24: Life and DeathWarning: Spoilers if you haven't read up to this point. In volume 24 of the graphic novel series by Robert Kirkman, somewhat synced with the tv series, what's left of the original Atlanta group is scattered but in touch. Rick and Andrea run the Alexandria colony, where Nagan is jailed. They are getting ready for a regional barter fair and everyone is busy preparing, tired and nervous.Maggie is running the Hilltop with Jesus and dealing with the aftermath of a rebellion, while Carl has followed Lydia back to her people, the Whisperers, who believe they should return to the animal state. Search parties have not been able to find him, and when Rick attempts to rescue his son, Alpha has a few nasty surprises waiting.Ezekiel loves the elusive Michonne, and we get a bit of backstory that explains why she left him. She spends her time on a fishing vessel! Surely Kirkman won't keep the exceptional Michonne miserable forever .. but could one bear to see her smile? Maybe in Vol. 24. Maybe not.Dwight runs the Saviors now and the human colonies seem to be getting along, or at least not fighting. As the novel builds toward the upcoming fair, the reader knows that Kirkman doesn't let our human friends go through a whole volume without a lot of pain and suffering .. so all the relative peace of the first half is going to lead somewhere very unpleasant.Charlie Adlard wields a mighty pencil and Stefano Gaudiano inks the stark, definitive artwork while Cliff Rathburn handles the grey tones. The page layouts are well-designed. The shots tend to be closeups with occasional medium shots, several full page depictions and a few two-page spreads that are beautiful, detailed and impactful. Not gorgeous but impressive.Characters are nuanced and recognizable. The story moves forward at a good pace and you get at least a little time with most of your favorite characters.Rus Wooton's lettering is clear and easy to read. All b&w except the cover.

so much better than the show at this point.
Well, you can’t blame the source material for the incredible train wreck debacle the amc show has become. They’ve even somehow made Carol and Daryl boring. This on the other hand has gotten me back into comics in my 50s. Top notch work! Beautiful art too.

I personally like that Kirkman is looking more into the struggles of ...
I started watching the television show from its beginning during the second season release. I have been an avid viewer since. Earlier this year, I decided to read the first compendium simply to see what differences existed in the story and character development. I immediately ordered the second compendium but decided that I would stop there so that I didn't get ahead of the show. After finishing that on the evening that it arrived in the mail, I ordered each subsequent volume that was available because I did not want to wait for the third compendium or the next season of the show to be released. When this volume came available for preorder, I didn't hesitate. Some have complained that the story is 'slowing down' too much. I personally like that Kirkman is looking more into the struggles of persons as they deal with their new environments as well as having to deal with the struggle of who they have become because of it. You can only watch/read about clearing out zombies repeatedly for so long. To say anything more would negate the pleasure of reading it for yourself. If you have have enjoyed the graphic novels up to this point, you won't be disappointed in this one. Nothing has changed in regard to style or the uncertainty of any particular character's chance of surviving for another appearance. If you haven't read them yet, do yourself a favor and order them now. But order them all at once so that you won't find yourself waiting on the mail, because you will want to keep reading.

Good, but does have some story issues
Another thrilling volume that kept me hooked from beginning to end. And this ending has quite an impact, even for someone who has been reading the series the whole way through. Also I really liked the character interaction here. Plenty of moves from the major characters that were unexpected, but not out of character, Overall and very well written adventure that keeps the reading pining for more. However there was a highly odd thing here: Some side story about Michonne going AWOL that was never depicted in the previous volumes. This apparently had a big impact on Rick's town, as people in it risked their lives looking for her, but this again, this was actually shown in the prior story What heck, Kirkman? You can't just have a major character go missing and have a big hunt for her "off camera". If something like this has to happen, and it has an impact on the current story, then you have to show it.Also some aspects of the storyline are really starting to bug me, namely the situation with the "whisperers". While the organization is certainly unique, it's just another existential threat to the community that may get into a war with them for some heavily contrived reason, It seems like that's all Rick and his crew ever get to do anymore ever since they settled down in town: Battle a never ending stream of existential threats that pop up one after another. Is this really all the future has in store for Rick and company? Just keep fighting for survival? It shouldn't always be this way, like it was the gang was on the road. They now have a secure town with walls, perimeters, well trained guards, and a huge arsenal. Things should be a lot more safe now, and while the threat of walker herds and bandits will always be a problem, there should be far fewer threats of total extermination.I'd like to see the story take a new direction: Show the community expanding and bringing in more "recruits". Or better yet, how about some "exploration" episodes. Show some expeditions into the Capitol to some government buildings to see if they can find the root cause of the disaster. Why not? Because such a thing wouldn't be necessary for the town's safety or survival? Sure, but that would be kind of the point. That the community has become secure enough to the point where they can actually afford to do things that are not 100% necessary for survival. That would show the re-establishment of civilization better then anything.Well that's just my thoughts on the issue. Let me know what you think.

Double Thumbs Up!
This is a superb volume with plenty of character and drama. You aren’t expecting much from this volume as you think we are at a quiet point in the story with the first market happening. Oh dear. The Whisperers present quite an existential challenge. Kirkman shows that antagonists don’t have to be cruel despots or megalomaniacs or even conquerors. They are definitely one of the freshest zombie ideas and they have a few surprises.Everyone seems to get some screentime in this book. Carl continues to grow and become his own man, Negan gets one of his awesome speeches and Maggie faces up to the hard side of leadership. This is an amazing foundation and would make a great book but the rug-pulls make it fantastic. Kirkman shows that he needn’t kill characters to shock you. And then he kills characters and you are shocked again. The art is amazing and it is always worth stopping to appreciate just how good it is and how much is done with black and grey. This has never been a normal gig for Adlard. He never phones things in. Each panel is well thought out and even after two dozen books he is still experimenting and there are some really sharp panel structures here.Walking Dead is everything a graphic novel should be including rising to new heights.Double Thumbs Up!

'Roll' on volume 25!
If you don't read T.W.D-then there's something wrong with you. Kirkman is a genius and keeps you page turning till the end... The very breathtaking end. If you enjoy the show and have never read the comic-do it and do it from the very start as you won't be disappointed-especially if you think you know the story by the TV show.... Go on, you know you want to.
