In the wiring diagram, DHT11 is shown wired incorrectly, the wire from D5 should go to the left pin next to the "S" The 3 volt positive should go to the middle pin of the DHT11. You do have to use the 1.8.4 version of Arduino software but also when installing esp8266 Community software be sure to install the version 2.4.1 release as shown in the picture. If you're an absolute beginner you might find this kit a little challenging but if you been hacking around a while this kit is for you.

This was fun to build. It is my first IOT project. You need to get an email link to access the instructions. They are easy to follow.Highly recommended. So good I bought another.

Liked the product. Only thing the CD was mini format that can only be read by a tray feeding CD drive

The kit is sold as a "Weather Station" and you can certainly use it for that! However, the ESP8266 processor and display can be used for all sorts of projects, either as they come or with additional sensors. I added a moisture sensor and with a bit of code quickly had it monitoring soil moisture for my plant (next will be adding a pump so it can water it when needed). Great starting kit with a lot of room to learn and grow!
