Erratic reading. Why?

Within a year, having taken abundant cautions and technical precautions came across typical malfunction as follows:At about 1500 rpm, while vehicle is running, releasing throtle, 22.4 a/f is displayed BUT after throtle is pressed the reading does not changes for about a minute..then it starts showing the normal AF ratio.On inspection very light carbon is visible.Have immersed the sensor in white petrol for overnight. Will refix caliber and check if this erratic happening reoccures.
