It cleans the air coming in or recirculating with your heat/cool in the car. It's one of the better ones out of Amazon- and it's one of the least expensive without being chintzy and not really stripping odors as well as pollens, etc.It needs to be changed once a year...and this one's a good choice as it's serving me QUITE well.

Fit my 19' Smart EQ Perfectly
Filter seems well made! It fit perfectly. It does seem like it has slightly less surfaces area on one side then the other, but no issues so far and works much better than what I had!

Fit great in a 2008 Smart ForTwo. Easy replacement a little awkward under the front console (next to the gas pedal) but definitely recommend doing this maintenance yourself.
