I was really excited by this brush initially. The bristles are very soft, even right out of the box. The handle has a nice weight and feels great in my hand. I started the break-in process with a warm water soak, dish soap cleaning, and then by lathering shave cream and letting the brush sit overnight. All very standard.When I woke up the next morning, I went to rinse the brush. As soon as I stuck it under the warm running water, the knot fell out of the handle and the brush fell apart. I'm incredibly disappointed with the overall quality of the construction of the brush and won't be replacing it.

I'm sorry to say I have to have to give this brush a 2 star review after owning it a month. Mine had the same issue as Jennifer in her 2 star review. Whatever the adhesive is that held the bristles into the handle simply could not stand up to expanding and shrinking from being soaked and dried. It's too bad too because everything else about this brush is a 4 star to me.

I gave it to my son and he was thrilled with it.

I would watch him as he would put a little water into this bowl with soap in it and use the brush to work up a lather, it was very cool to watch as he would brush the lather onto his face. My husband had asked my last year if I had ever seen a brush like the one my granddad used and I said yes, but hadn't seen one since so I searched amazon and saw this brush. My husband was ecstatic when he opened this as his birthday gift, wanted to know where I found it. I had been researching Badger shaving brushes lately for my husband. He has one from a kit he got years ago when he started getting into soap shaving. I wanted one that overall felt a little better quality and had a noticeable difference with his shaving experience. He has finally started branching out into different soap bowls and creams. I figured it was time for him to get a new brush. All my research lead me to badger brushes. I had been looking at this brush, but wasn't too sure and decided to do the discount version just in case it didn't work out. I figured if I got it and he didn't like it I could keep looking for the best fit for him. This one looks so much nicer than his other one I was hoping he'd like it. I had gotten few products from Justice shaving company and all seem to be nicely made and hold up to the daily abuse. My husband likes this brush better, but the verdict is still out how long it will hold up. His other brush has been around for years. I'm not sure if thats a good thing or bad? Came nicely packaged so giving it to him as a gift was a nice surprise for him. :) So far so good he's happy with it and I'm happy with the purchase buying from this company.

First, I'll talk about the aesthetics of the brush, then how it performed. The brush has a good weight to it and feels like a quality brush. It feels solid in the hand and is easy to hold. The bristles are a banded color, which is common for "best" rating (according to my research; this is only my second shaving brush). The brush is smooth on the face with a bit of scratchiness (but not in a bad way). Initially, the brush has an order to it, which is common, but it wasn't too off-putting and the scent didn't last on my face.I used this this morning for my regular shave. I didn't have a lot of hair but needed to clean up some scruff. I was able to get a good lather worked up but didn't get a 2nd pass out of it. One thing that worried me was that a dark liquid came out of the bristles -- not sure if it was dye or something else, which makes me not totally certain about its authenticity, but I haven't been able to definitively decide based on research.Overall, it seems to be good. The dark liquid is the only concern I had, otherwise it is a solid brush, especially considering the price.I received this item at a discount in exchange for a fair review.
