Star Wars - A Musical Journey (Music from Episodes I - VI)

This is awesome!
There are beautiful full color pictures throughout the book. The paper and pages are high quality and my son is thrilled to have the music to play on piano. This made one 9 year-old birthday boy that loves Star Wars and playing piano very happy! He has used it a lot since he got it and is even playing a piece out of it for his recital this summer! I am pretty sure it has been the most used gift he got and it's been nearly 2 months. He's taken it to and from piano lessons. He doesn't take good care of his things (his regular lesson book has lost it's cover and has definitely had better days) but this still looks nice. His piano teacher says that the songs are different levels within the book which will be good to challenge him for a while.

Great Arrangements for Young Pianists
Obviously, kids like this music. Dan Coates does a really great job of arranging the sometimes complex music of John Williams so that it can be played by kids, but sounds sophisticated. There is also a range of difficulty of the pieces contained in this book. The "Star Wars Main Theme," and the "Imperial March" are fairly easy and straight forward. "May the Force Be With You" and "Cantina Band" are somewhat more difficult. I would say that if your kid is at the level 2A-B, he (she) would be able to stretch a bit and play the easier selections. The harder selections could be approached by level 3A-B students, although my son was able to master some of the harder arrangements (with considerable practice) coming from level 2B, and improved his musicality accordingly. Thus, children will be able to go back to this book time and time again as their ability increases. The Coates Star Wars arrangements must be popular at recitals as attested to by the large number of videos of these pieces on You Tube.

Great Investment for Piano Teachers!
This is a FANTASTIC book for the money. A lot of different, beautifully arranged piano pieces that will satisfy piano students asking for various Star Wars tunes. I would call this early intermediate instead of easy. Students should be in level 3A or B in the Faber series to get through this with a teacher. Probably level 4 Faber to tackle it on their own.Note that these are "easy" arrangements, not necessarily in their original keys, so if you go from listening to a recording to playing a piece from this book it will sound a little different!

Teacher Approved!
I am a piano teacher and a couple of my younger boy students are real Star Wars buffs. Giving them music to work on that they really love works wonders with practice habits, so I'm really glad I found this collection of easy piano arrangements. Dan Coates' arrangements are reliably well-done with helpful fingerings and a good sound. I'm very pleased with the book.

Easy with at least 3 years experience
I bought this for my daughter who was starting her fourth year in piano. She was able to play some things relatively easily, but there is enough content that is challenging that she takes it to her piano lessons and can learn and grow from it. She enjoys being able to play the familiar Star Wars tunes, and it helps to keep her motivated and practicing, for the most part. I don't reccommend this book for less than 3 years experience as it could be discouragingly difficult.

Excellent arrangements
Dan Coates has come up with some great arrangements of the orchestral music from these movies, each one manages to capture all the themes, motifs and progressions even though reduced down to a single piano part.My only criticism is that some of the fingering is a little bizarre, I had changed a lot of it for my students as I just cannot see where he is coming from with some of his choices! But overall a great score, one which many of my students love.

Classic, but Easy Arrangements
This book contains most of all the best music from all six Star Wars episodes. There is a wide selection of music to choose from, from all six episodes, which is nice. However, the arrangements are quite easy, and I would warn that you will probably bore quickly from these arrangements if you are a more advanced piano player. Certain arrangements like the Throne Room and Princess Leia's theme are unnecessarily simplified. I would say, however, if you want a more challenging selection of music check out Star Wars Episode Iii Revengeof The Sith Piano Solos Although this product has music from Episode III, it contains wonderful, more challenging, fuller arrangements of the best of the classics, including the Star Wars Main Theme, Princess Leia's Theme, The Throne Room, The Force Theme, and Imperial March.

Good piece
Star Wars -- A Musical Journey (Easy Piano Sheet music)I begin to say amazon shipped the book very fast and my son was very excited about this book. However, I want to let people know that 8 amazon reviews are for two books, one is the book I purchased- Star Wars -- A Musical Journey (Easy Piano), and this book is easier, appropriate for level 2-3 learners, the other book is Star Wars - A Musical Journey Episodes I-VI - Piano Solos, which is much more difficult to play. Hope amazon will correct it soon.

I’ve been playing piano for 6 years and some of these pieces can be a bit challenging but are easy enough to learn! I will definitely buy another piano book from amazon
