Is this tsa approved? can this stay on my keysmart when i travel by air?

I’m not sure if it’s “officially” TSA approved but I’ve flown with it on my keys and never thought about it being there, and no one gave me any problems or made me leave it or anything, so I would say it’s “TSA passable”

No. It is good enough to split/cut packing tape.

What’s the purpose of the key blade if it can’t cut through a box or tape?

it's true that this is not a stainless steel blade HOWEVER it does cut through tape & boxes in fact I own two of these - one on my keyring and one hanging in the garage to open mail, packages, plastic bundles of water - I do not own stock in KeySmart although I wish I did - KeySmart products are well made & the company stands behind their products so if you are not happy with your purchase it can easily be returned for a refund
