Does it need to be charged over night prior to first use?

The one I bought for my grandson did not and played for many hours of use before it tells you that it needs to be recharged.

Does it come with the device along with all the cards shown in the pictures?

Yes, there are 112 double-sided cards (224 different objects). My 3-year-old grandson plays with it every day. Amazing toy for the price! The battery is rechargeable and seems to run for a month on a recharge. The optical reader has always worked and the enunciation of the words is very clear. Some of the cards are a bit strange for a 3 to 5-year-old (Red Wine) but all in all a great purchase!
