Great set - addictive modelling!
We bought this as an extension to my daughter's existing set : she enjoyed using that for GCSE chemistry but was a bit frustrated at the size limits of organic molecules which she could make with her existing Molymod set.Now she is doing AS Chemistry and Biology, the extra carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulphur and oxygen 'atoms' in this set come in very handy and the proportions appear about right. Other reviewers have commented that models can be hard to dismantle, but we've found that the little removal tools is very useful. If this is your only set, it might be a trifle limiting - there are only 12 carbons. And if you're of a biochemical / molecular biology bent, the fact that there's only one phosphorus atom is going to be a bit annoying, given the central role of phosphates in cell biology. Those are the only negatives : it's a well made set that will help students grasp important concepts like isomerism, conformation of sugars, bond strain in cycloalkanes and carbon rings. And as we've found, the sets are rather more-ish as your molecular modelling ambitions increase.

Gorgeous kit for organic chemistry, essential for conformational analysis
I conduct conformational analysis workshops at a well-respected British university, and this set has made my life so much easier with its space-filling, ultra-short bonds and its many links and atoms. It is absolutely great to feel how the transition from a chair to a boat causes mechanical strain on the space-filling models, as this among other things makes the students wonder why chairs are normally favoured. It is overwhelmingly satisfying to manipulate the models, as it is to assemble and take them apart. Even my 6 year-old daughter had a go at building water... and liked it a lot.Crucial detail: very much like LEGO kits, this includes a tool for removing links - handy if working with the shorter ones!

Love the set, great way to play and learn - or re-discover!
I love the set, it is well made and solid and comes with a simple guide on the more common molecules. The whole family likes it, my 6 year old plays with it like lego, and I love re-discovering my chemistry knowledge. If anything the connections can be a little hard to break up, but it does come with a little tool to help with this.

Age 15
These are used in schools, bought this for my son as he uses one in school, he’s learnt how to do them all, easy to do and learn

Great starter kit
I give it 4 stars because it contains everything that a starter chemist would like to try and built. The only bad thing is that it is sometimes hard to make the joints (molecular bindings) fit into the holes and they are also sometimes hard to remove. It's good that there is a binding-removeing tool in the set!I would recomend anyone who has an interest in chemestry and the 3D-proportions of molecules to buy this. It's probobly the easyest way to get this product here on amazon because otherwise you would have to buy it from suppliers that often only sell it to schools or other clients of that sort.Hope others will enjoy the product as well :)

Great chmistry aid for the child who needs to work things out for themselves
This is brilliant for GCSE Chemistry. My daughter needs to "to" polymers, and she was struggling with the idea of branching, plasticisers, etc - this set allows a very basic polymer to be built, though we ended up getting the Inorganic set as well, and putting them together.I found that once we had built the polymers she was able to work out how properties like density related to the molecular structure, a brilliant moment when suddenly, the whole topic made sense. Some children can visualise what is happening from the explanation in class, but if your child can't, this set is a brilliant way of allowing them to work out how the shape of a molecule affects the properties.

Like in college!
Like the ones you have at college. Also some examples of the most relevant molecules. The sticks are a bit tough to get out, but you also get a simple tool following which helps a bit. Some of the sticks are also almost impossible to get in to some wholes, but there are more wholes to pick from, so it has not been a big issue. All-in-all: a great product.
