Great coffee at a great temperature
I have a bean to cup espresso machine that I use for making latte's and Americano's.The thing is that on a nice lazy Sunday morning, I really enjoy the smoother, more mellow nature of filter coffee, and it's nice to have several mugs of it on tap.The build quality is great, the software is easy to use and it's easy to keep clean. As for the coffee making (the bit that actually matters!) it's perfect at this price point. It brews nice and slowly, not rushing the water through the grounds, it uses traditional paper filters rather than a permanent filter (which means the coffee tastes better as it's a fresh filter each time) and the coffee is piping hot.The timer is adjustable for the heating element, and the wake up feature works great to have a pot of steaming coffee sitting waiting for you in the morning. It should be noted, as mentioned in some of the other reviews, the jug is somewhat smaller than some other machines, it holds about 3 and a half 'mugs' of brew, which is a lot less than the 8 indicated on the water reservoir. As long as that is not an issue for you, you will be very happy with this great machine.

Great coffee, well designed, simple to use with handy water-hardness and timer functions too
Most importantly this makes a good cup of coffee - hot, and well brewed. It makes about 4 standard UK size mugs, so perfectly adequate for most day to day use, and as it's quite quick, brewing a second pot won't take so long to be a problem if you're entertaining/watering a larger crowd (or just give them cups instead!!!).I waited a while for this to come back in to stock, as I wanted to replace my old Delonghi timer filter coffee maker with one of comparable quality, and equally aesthetically pleasing - afterall , these things tend to stay out on the worktop. I'm really glad I did wait, as it's a well designed, simple machine, with some great, and unique features. The water-hardness/anti-calc setting may seem a little twee, however any coffee drinker knows how much this can affect the flavour of your coffee, let alone the performance and longevity of the appliance itself. Melitta pack a test strip in with the instructions so you can accurately test the hardness of your water, and adjust the machine accordingly, and then, it alerts you when a cleaning cycle is due (which is also a simple procedure). The timer function is great for anyone who can't function without a sip of coffee! Waking up to freshly brewed coffee (and freshly baked bread (oh, Panasonic bread-maker, how I love you too)), is a very nice thing indeed.Filter coffee is so much cheaper than capsule systems, and you can get a decent size cup from just a couple of scoops of coffee and a paper filter, so much more economical, and a lot less fiddly! And lastly, it's a really tidy and compact, well made appliance.

Good coffee maker, keeps come warm for up to 2 hours
Looks good, works well. This model is unusual in having an adjustable timer to keep coffee warm for up to 2 hours. Most coffee machines only keep coffee warm for 30 minutes. We find this extra time very useful but coffee loses some of its flavour eventually.Note that the jug on this model is quite small with a capacity of one litre, enough for 4 mugs.

Fantastic Coffee at a Fantastic Price
We've been using the Melitta Optima Timer for three weeks now. We bought it to replace a £500 Krups Bean to Coffee machine we have. The Meliitta is very simple to use, and makes delicious coffee. The timer facility is simple and fantastic - wake up to a jug of hot fresh filter coffee. The hot plate will keep the coffee hot for 2 hours before switching off.For £50 there is no longer the need to rinse out that cafetiere and cleaning all those coffee granules out of your sink.

Am thrilled with the extended keep warm
Thank goodness for this machine - it stays on for 2 hours when you change the default settings. This is very easy to do and it stays on that setting regardless of powering on or off. Now I can enjoy a leisurely weekend morning without my coffee going cold. This is the only machine I could find with the option to extend the keep warm to a decent length of time. It's a bonus that it is quiet, nice to look at, well put together and easy to pour water into the detachable container.

Not a good product!
I have bought this coffee machine one year ago. Unfortunately, after one year the coffee machine stopped working completely. It is quite worrying that after only one year the machine should pack up. It is also impossible to contact the seller to explain the matter ! It is a great pity! How can I obtain a refund or a replacement of another reliable coffee machine? Please advise!

Awesome while it lasted
Purchased this coffee machine in August 2018, used it to brew 1-2 pots of coffee daily. Looks good on the countertop, timer works well, despite white colour easier than most to keep clean (the only small corners and ridges for dirt to accumulate are behind the coffee pot and filter) with a proper wipe down every other day more than sufficient. Temperature of the coffee is great (everyone in my family drink their filter coffee black or with only very little milk and nobody’s complained). Capacity could be better (realistically this is only good to serve four average coffee mugs) but you cannot have everything. In fact this machine was on route to get a 5-star review until it just stopped working today. Almost on the day 10 months it just stopped: Lights are on but nothings brewing. Exceptionally disappointing for such a reputable brand.
