We keep ours free standing. Works very well.

Can the base holder be pulled apart for cleaning?

No it can't, shake the excess water off and the very little that is left will evaporate

Just received my brush but no way to attach it to the wall.Is there supposed to be a sticker in the box?

Yes there is a sticker it is in a clear plastic bag, have a look through the contents of the box again you may have missed it if it isn’t there then I would get in touch with the seller.
