At most half an inch front the tray handle to the center portion of the lid. At most 3 1/2 inches from the bottom of the tray to the center portion of the lid. But the lid is angled at the front and rear, so down to about an inch and a half from the bottom of the tray to the lowest angle portion of the lid. Hope this helps.
