Will this product work well with a 55 gallon fish tank.

This filter is way too small for a 55G. I use mine on a 15G tank that is very lightly stocked.

Can this be used in a 20 or 40 gallon turtle tank?

The Bioplus 100 is recommended for up to 30 gallon tanks by the manufacturer. Turtles being dirtier than fish i would want to make sure i had plenty of filtration so i would not use the Bioplus 100 on a 40 gallon tank but would move to the Bioplus 200 for that size tank.
