OXO Good Grips Garlic Slicer,White

I've had several versions of a garlic slicer.This is by far the best.Not too surprising, as oxo needs to have a good design philosophy.This slices in both directions, as the blade is double-edged.The slices are clean, thin and consistent - the reason you would use this device.Its guard holds the garlic appropriately with an insert that you apply a bit of constant pressure on.That guard also stores on the unit itself (at a 90-degree angle, it has a very solid clip in system), so it can store well as a single unit.It cleans up easily.My one (tiny) nit is that the plunger stays in with a bit of a friction fit rather than a clip - but It doesn't slide out too easily.

Makes even slices that are perfect for recipes because they cook uniformly. Fast and easy to do and clean up is a breeze.

This gadget works great for slicing a lot of garlic quickly and very thin.

This replaced another brand garlic slicer that hasn't worked well since the day I got it. This slicer immediately performed very well. I particularly love the double sided blade it has and the uniform paper thin slices it produces. I will be putting it through its paces yearly when it slices 40-50 bulbs with 7-12 cloves each in order to dehydrate all. Even if it only takes 2 cloves at a time, it operates so quickly that it should cut my time for this annual job significantly. The blade doesn't look like it can be replaced though, so, until I know how long the double blade lasts, I can't give it a five star yet.

This is a very handy little kitchen tool that I use constantly. It is simple to use, easy to clean, and does a great job creating very thin slices of garlic. I could use a knife of course, but the uniformity and thinness of the slices would not compare. I have a garlic press but I use this five times more often.

I fairly frequently make a garlic pasta dish that needs sliced garlic. I tried mincing just once and it came out very poorly. But carefully slicing half a head of garlic into thin large pieces left me with a seized up back every time and took forever.Enter OXO. This slicer is so incredibly fast. I also use the OXO garlic peeler silicone tube. So the process is pry the cloves off the head, chop off each end of the cloves, roll them a few at a time to peel, drop them in the slicer's hopper, and shunk it back and forth less than ten times per load. Takes almost no time. Now the longest part of making this dish is waiting for the water to boil.Cleanup is a breeze, just remove the slider and press, rinse the three pieces, and toss in the upper dishwasher rack (though they rinse well enough that if you happen to need to use it again before running the wash, you should be able to). Storage is a little awkward. Although you pivot the slider to clip it on over the blade, the presser is only sitting loose in it and there is still some blade on the underside, plus the angled construction makes it need a lot of vertical space. For now I'm keeping it in a large bowl on my countertop which also holds some recipes and occasionally avocados. I might be able to clear out some drawer space if I get around to ruthlessly getting rid of extraneous kitchen items but for the time being this slicer is semi in the way. Totally worth it! My back is so happy now.

Awesome product!! You can finely chop garlic in half the time or less. Every serious cook needs one of these!
