... so I don't know any of the particulars. I buy it as a supplement for my raw diet cat food I make for my sweetie Gawain-kitty. He got pancreatitis which lead (it seems) to a low functioning pancreas. He was unable to process PROCESSED canned cat food. I turned to making my own and his symptoms disappeared. He gained his weight back and appears healthy again. He no longer needs Pancreazym in order to process the food he eats. He was down to 8-pounds and he's back up to 11 Lbs. w/o Pancreazym... only this raw diet. I put in the Pancreas Lamb - Natural Glandular, Digestive Support, Enzymes and it just seems these enzymes gives him what he needs! Pancreazym made him ill. Would destroy his stomach. I was always medicating him for stomach upsets and subsequent vomiting. He has not vomited in over 4-months now, and no more stomach upsets. This enzyme provides all he needs as a supplement, in his diet. He is a VERY healthy cat. No one would ever guess his pancreas level was at 6 from his recent blood work. He digests his food. His stools are not 'grey' color... look normal. I attribute that FACT to this enzyme. He doesn't need processed cat food, and he CERTAINLY doesn't need Pancreasym. THA END (ta-dah!!! )

We used these temporarily for a cat we adopted that had EPI due to being fed poor quality (science diet) food for years despite having an allergy to its main ingredients; it caused her own pancreas to become chronically inflamed, and while we weaned her off of the inappropriate food and onto a grain free raw diet, we supplemented her meals with a capsule per meal so her pancreas had a chance to calm down and not need to try to overwork themselves in their already inflamed state.After a few months, we were able to wean her off of pancreatic supplementation as her own pancreas started to work again.The biggest upside is that the cost for a bottle of these is a fraction of what the vet wanted to charge for a similar "veterinary only" version of freeze dried pancreatic tissue. Through the vet, it would have cost over $100 for a tub of ground up, freeze dried pancreas.These? $15.Infinitely better deal.

Basing my use of this product on the late great Dr. Nicholas Gonzales. Using it to clear up a few issues. Great so far.

I really can't say if this works or not, the capsules are HUGE and even though I can swallow them, it isn't a pleasant feeling. I would rather take two caps at a time if they were half the size..

My dog has an environmental allergy to aspergillus niger (mold) which is almost every vegetable based digestive enzyme. It took me a little while to figure that out, and enzymes made of this mold cause her to digestive issues (vomiting). This is a great alternative. I sprinkle 1/2 capsule on her wet food and mix it in before serving the food to her. She is 20 pounds and it seems to help with her other digestive issues.

I have been taking Nutricology Pancreas for many years and like it very much. I think Nutricology Pancreas is great and good value for the money it cost.
