Spoiler-free Review
Monster, Perfect Edition, Volume 2 collects vols. 3 and 4 of Monster, Naoki Urasawa's mystery-thriller. In this 400-page book, Tenma continues his search for Johan, as the police search for Dr. Tenma. Volume 2 sees the introduction of a violent neo-Nazi group that wants Johan as its leader. World War II was 70 or 75 years ago, but Germans - especially Nazis - still make great antagonists. Of course, not every German in the book is a villain or a Nazi; the story takes place in Germany, with Dr. Tenma chasing down leads about Johan's past.Dr. Tenma is really stating to grow on me. He's a great hero confronted by great villains. Although Johan doesn't make an appearance in this book, he's a constant presence, and the neo-Nazi organization is simply scary, led by an ex-general in the Eastern German armed forces. The thugs that do all the nasty work are reminiscent of the Nazi S.A. forces, and their leaders are as brilliant and crazy as Himmler, himself. I actually liked Volume 2 of the Perfect Edition better than Volume 1, and read it in less than a day. ****1/2

Continuing series explores smaller stories
Tenma is on the run. His asking questions about the various murders has tagged him as a suspect, and his Japanese identity in Germany makes him stand out. Johan is toying with him while Tenma tries to piece together what happened and where he was going, including investigating his childhood in an East German orphanage. It’s fascinating to see how quickly everything Tenma valued, everything that made up his self-identity, can be replaced when he becomes a lone vigilante. He wanders, meeting a child whose most desired wish is simply a soccer ball and a country doctor trying to do what he can for the village patients. He’s not the only one after Johan; a white-supremacist organization is also looking for him to be the next Hitler.Meanwhile, a police inspector who has sacrificed everything else in his life to solving murderers is on his trail, egged on by Tenma’s now-dissolute ex-fiancee. It’s rather like a 70s action show, with the big premise — Tenma hunts a murderer — allowing for smaller stories within the larger plot. (Review originally posted at ComicsWorthReading.com.)

An Underrated Masterpiece
Iv watched the Anime version of Monster many years ago and was blown away by its addictive story, drama, action and suspence, one of the very rare manga stories with a rapid turn of events for a humble Japanese docoter. You won't regret purchasing this one, highly recommended for anyone! Those new to Japanese Manga world, and those wanting something more if a non fictional taste and closer to reality.Get all 9 Volumes!

Great book, great condition.
The book came wrapped in plastic, without a single mark or scratch. A reoccurring problem I notice when buying books, specifically mangas, is that sometimes they'll have fingerprints or grease stains on the front cover (odd, i know). This book came in perfect shape, good book too.

PErfect Volume 2
Keep the story moving, Tenma arrives to the orphanage where Johan grew, he meet Dieter, he is still looking for Johan. We see Nina also look for Johan. A group of neo-nazi want to make Johan their leader, preparing a fire, both Nina and Tenma get involved while looking for Johan, but Johan is above all those racial stupidities, leaves message for Nina and Tenma. Also a bit of look around the KBA agent and Tenma’s ex-girlfriend, wow she really is going down into a revenge obsession path.We start to see the past of Johan, and although we never do see him, the messages start to paint what really is going with him. Great story telling, and amazing art-drawings.Also the 3-in-1 edition is fabulous, looks really professional, collection style.
