Q: what temperature to set the soldering iron for pla and polycorbaonte ?

You need to be above the melting temperature of the filament, I usually set to 350C ( around 750F )

Q: can this be used with a propane soldering iron?

I found that I need to apply pressure to push the insert into the melting plastic. I don't know that you can with a gas soldering iron but if the iron has a metal tip you may find that it works.

Q: What style soldering irons is this compatable with?

In regards to brass inserts for plastic I use an old soldering iron with a chisel tip that I've blunted.
