Clean gain at an excellent price

Works perfectly for the Shure SM7B microphone. The product is very compact and does not need a second XLR cable. Great price compared to its competitors.

Absolutely amazing buy!

Just a heads up anyone using this in conjunction with a rode ntg2 microphone (shotgun) you will need to run this from phantom power from your tascam or sound recorder device and then also have a a battery in your ntg2 to power that or you'll get nothing back. That being said, absolutely amazing product when used this way! My recording level on my Dr-40 has gone from 85 (Maximum on the device is 99) to around 67! And i always land between -3db and -12db! One occasion on set i had my tascam's level set to 35 and it was picking up the actor at -6db bang on with this fethead!!!

value of money

it’s the same thing like a cloud lifter but cheaper. but you gonna need an audio interface with 48v phantom to use it.i have an Sm58 and the sound that produces is amazing.

Does what it's supposed to do (AT2040, Shure SM7B)

I've used this with two dynamic mics - an AT2040 and a Shure SM7B.Both of these mics require a large gain boost, and that's exactly what this does. I've tested it at both ends of the XLR cable and it's working in both locations for me (at the mic, and at the audio interface). What I like about the Fethead - compared with competors like the Cloudlifter - is that it is very compact, and doesn't require another XLR cable. That's €15-20 and a bunch of space saved.

Clean gain for cheap

Adds a massive amount of clean gain in a tidy small form factor. I have used this with no issues for a long time . Also handy for travelling due to the size.

Clean Boost

Does what it says it does.Clean Gain of c.27dB.Avoids excess noise from increasing gain on your mixing board to cater for low output dynamic mics.

Works wonderful, beware the phantom power requirements

Needed this product and am stoked with its functionality, but it requires phantom power to function, this is important to note because my original audio interface didn't meet the phantom power requirements needed to power this device, so alongside the price of the fethead I then needed to replace my audio interface.

A MUST for dynamic microphones

I recently bought a Rode Procaster dynamic microphone and was underwhelmed by the feeble signal it was giving me on my Maschine mk3. After researching the problem I dubiously decided to buy this, plus a Neewer 100 phantom power box. Wow, what a difference! But I don't get it, you wouldn't buy a Porsche and just push it around till you found out you have to buy the steering wheel and the sparkplugs from two unrelated companies, so why do Rode sell dynamic microphones without at least telling you your gonna need some extra bits?
